Hi,
I am a beginner in NIOS II. So I followed the Nios II Development Kit Getting Started User Guidestep by step twice. Arriving at the page 1-12 when I click run, as the guide says, it doesn't download the "hello world" pogramm in the board. I fist open the quartus II softaware, open a project wizard the nios II and download into the cyclone II FPGA. Then I open the SOPC builder which helps me open NIOS II IDE. I open a template the "hello word" the I build the project. Everything seems to be ok until I try to run the project. I have this error message: using cable "usb-blaster [usb-0]", device 1, instance 0x00pausing target processor: not responding.
resetting and trying again: failed
leaving target processor paused
I would be very thankful if someone could help me. Thanks

hi, did you remember to program the FPGA with a pattern?
I have the same kit and programed it with this guy through Quartus C:\altera\91\nios2eds\examples\vhdl\niosII_cycloneII_2c35\standard Then in the Nios2 Eclipse Platform I do "New Application and BSP from template" Have tried all the examples and they worked for me. Cheers Stefan- Mark as New

Hi,
I am a complete beginner so I dont know what "program your fpga with a pattern" means. Since we have the same kit, I just took the kit follow all the instruction of the getting started user guide but I cannot run the "hello-world" template. I have this error whatever solution I try: Using cable "USB-Blaster [USB-0]", device 1, instance 0x00 Pausing target processor: not responding. Resetting and trying again: FAILED Leaving target processor paused I spent three days on it and still nothing :confused::mad: Please help!- Mark as New

Hi,
I have the Nios II Development Kit with Cyclone II EP2C35F. I installed the Quartus 2 9.1 sp2 web edition from the altera homepage. then I used the Nios II Development Kit Getting Started User Guide that came with the box. (has a P25-10108-05 in the lower left corner) Be sure to connect the Jtag correctly and when you connect the power then you should have all sorts of blinking lights. Follow the instruction on page 1-7 and 1-8 to check the board. when you open the Quartus II project then be sure to open the example that fits your fpga (in my case niosII_cycloneII_2c35). Then download the pattern to the fpga (download hardware image on page 1-9). You need to do this every time you remove the power to the board. Then go to the Nios II IDE and try to send program over... be sure to select the same hardware target as there was in the example you used to program the fpga. cheers Stefan- Mark as New

Hi,
I followed all of what you said but the error remains. As a beginner, I realised that I was given a DSP developement KIt rather than I nios II development kit. I think there are somethings that has been done concerning the nios II developement kit that hasnt in the DSP dev kit. So I shouldn't follow exactly the getting started user guide. I am a complete beginner in these technologies. As I said I have to implement a nios II processor in the cyclone II FPGA. Where could I find fine tutorials in order to begin without losing times?- Mark as New
