Hi,
in the bios my raid appears as Rebuilding (all drives present and accounted for) , in the RST software the raid appears as degraded with one of the drives as 0MB with a strange S/N (first letter missing and a " :0 " at the end.

Hello maayanh,
Thank you for the information.
In this case, the Intel® RST version installed is not compatible with the motherboard you have.
You may uninstall the Intel® RST from programs and features, restart the computer and then install the Intel® RST version found in the http://uk.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-H87-HD3-rev-1x# support-dl Gigabyte's website, you may select your OS and then expand "SATA RAID/AHCI" option.
In addition, you can perform a verify and repair:
Please let me know how it goes.
Regards,
JC

as suggested I downgraded the driver to the one suggested by the MB manufacture (GB) 14.5.0.1081.
to no avail, the bios sees the HD as perfectly fine (rebuilding), while RST does not recognize the HD (unknown drive on unknown port...) -> degraded
