I have a laptop that is almost 5 years old. I have not encountered any issues before this. It is only recently that this SATA available disk error popped out and my HDD(my disk D) disappeared when I check windows explorer. This happen as I was installing a game into the disk. After a quick restart, the disk showed up in the explorer but it happened again when I tried to install the game back. Transferring files between my SSD and HDD seem fine. Before this event happened, I had uninstalled some software and removed old files to make some space.
I am not a tech person so I don't know how diagnosed or to solve this issue. Any help would be appreciated.

This is likely telling you that your HDD is failing. I would be backing up its contents while you still can and then getting a replacement HDD.
Hope this helps,
