Try to read/restore data

Hello Forum,

I'm encountering an issue with my HP All-in-One 24-df1237c Bundle PC (1J7M8AA) after a Windows 11 reinstall.

BIOS shows: Intel(R) RST 18.1.1.5201 RST VMD Driver.

Background:

  • My previous Windows installation became corrupted and was unrecoverable. Recovery key that I have lead to dead blue screen
  • I successfully installed a fresh copy of Windows 11 on an external hard drive.
  • I attempted to install the Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver (version 18.7.6.1010 Rev.A) from HP's official website.
  • After the reboot, Windows failed to recognize the old driver.
  • I also tried to install "The Intel® Rapid Storage Technology (Intel® RST) Driver (18.7.6.1010.3)" but after 20% installation progress got BDOS.

Question:

Are there any additional drivers or software components required to enable Windows 11 to recognize the old Intel RST driver?

I'm uncertain if this is the appropriate forum for this query or if it would be better suited for an HP or Intel forum.

Any guidance or assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Hello waywern,

Thank you for reaching out to us regarding the issue you’re experiencing with your system. The message "BIOS shows: Intel(R) RST 18.1.1.5201 RST VMD Driver" means that your computer's BIOS (Basic Input/Output System) is indicating that it is using version 18.1.1.5201 of the Intel Rapid Storage Technology (RST) driver with VMD (Volume Management Device) support.

This information is crucial because it tells us which version of the RST driver is currently active at the BIOS level, which can impact how Windows interacts with your storage devices. The VMD driver is specifically designed to manage storage devices in systems with Intel's Volume Management Device technology, which can affect driver compatibility and installation processes.

The version of the Intel RST driver you're trying to install might not be fully compatible with your current BIOS version or Windows 11 setup. Incorrect BIOS settings can prevent the operating system from recognizing the storage driver correctly. Double-checking these settings can often resolve such issues. Contact your system manufacturer for additional support about BIOS configuration. The method of installing the driver can also impact its success. Using the recommended installation process from HP can help avoid issues.

To better assist you, I need to gather some additional information. Could you please answer the following questions?

  1. Can you please run the System Support Utility (SSU) and share the logs with me?
  2. Can you provide the exact error message you are encountering? Screenshots or a video recording will help.
  3. Have you tried to reach HP support for this issue? If yes, what was their diagnosis?

Providing this information will help me diagnose the system more accurately and check for available solutions. Thank you for your cooperation, and I look forward to your response.

Best regards,
