Dear Intel Support team.
Does Intel server system R1208WFTYS with board S2600WFT support Cascade lake CPU. In TPS for W2600WFT board state that all board support 1, and 2 generation Scalable CPU.
On ark page for Server system R1208WFTYS and for board S2600WFT when you check for compatible product on ark page there is only list for Skylake CPU and there is no second generation Cascade lake.
Please I need confirmation that is supported 2 gen Scalable CPU on that system.
As I know from data center specialist course before launch of 2 gen Scalable CPU Cascade lake, we are told that with upgrade in bios with first generation main board S2600WFT we will be able to use 2 Gen CPU Cascade Lake only obsticle is that bios upgrade can be done with first Gen Skylake CPU. Please also answer from which bios release is supported 2 Gen Scalable CPU Cascade Lake if supported at all.
Thank you.

Hello,
All "R" or refreshed products offer native support for Xeon Scalable 2nd Generation processors (Cascade Lake) no BIOS update required.
"Non-R" products can still support Cascade Lake but with a specific BIOS version on the board.
The one big difference between "Non-R" and "R" board and systems is the support for DCPMM (S2600WF and S2600BP).
Now, for the R1208WFTYSR server system in ARK:
https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/192586/intel-server-system-r1208wftysr.html
I see a list of compatible Skylake (Scalable Gen1) and Cascade Lake (Scalable Gen2) processor.
Please let me know if you have more questions and I will be more than happy to assist you.
Best regards,
Emeth O.

Hi,
thank you for answer,
I ask for system without R, on ark there is no official support for Cascade Lake Xeon CPU, tihis link what you share is for R model, what about non R model??
So you say diference is DCPMM, I know that non R model not support DCPMM.
I need some official document that system R1208WFTYS or system board S2600WFT support Cascade Lake Xeon CPU.
Thank you.

Hello PJaks,
I am following up on this thread in order to provide some additional info that probably will better explain your original questions.
1. R1208WFTYS and W2600WFT support Xeon Scalable 2nd Generation,
2. We will ask ARK website to be corrected to denote that change.
3. Once that change is done, that will become the official Intel website/source of information that will rectify that non-R boards and server systems offer support for Xeon Scalable 2nd Generation processors.
4. Support for Xeon Scalable 2nd Generation processors starts in FW version 02.01.0008, but the latest version (02.01.0009) can be flashed directly without problems.
5 .A Xeon Scalable 1st Generation processor would be needed in order to boot the non-R system or board to perform the above-mentioned updates before been able to boot using a Xeon Scalable 2nd Generation processor.
In case you have further questions please don't hesitate to ask.

Hello PJaks,
Before proceeding to close this thread let me share with you some final information about the ark website.
It was decided that the information displayed in ark referent to the S2600WF non "R" version won't be changed because of the fact that these systems are not been manufactured any more (only "R" versions are now). This doesn't mean Xeon Scalable 2nd Generation processors do not work with non-R versions, in fact the TPS states that it is compatible with both 1st Generation and 2nd Generation processors.
So, although not mentioned in ARK, the TPS does clarify and confirm this.
Been said that we will proceed to close this thread. Iin case of further questions please create a new topic.
