TDP Quest

Struggling to configure S2600STBR with 2 Xeon W Series, however the lowest compatible processor available is with 105W TDP whereas TDP of the board is upto 205W. How will I install 2 Processors? Second processor line up is 120W & 130W, which offer at the most 6 cores. Don't think I can have at least 10C per processor as a good dual system on S2600STBR. Please help me recommend alternatives to either for board or processor. Or even tell if I can ever make such a system with S2600STBR.

Regards.

Hello GPMNETWORK,

Thank you for posting your question on this Intel® Community.

Intel® Xeon® W Processors are not compatible with Intel® Server Board S2600STBR. This server board supports (1) or (2) processors from the 1st and 2nd Gen Intel® Xeon® processor Scalable family (Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze).

Please find attached the IntelTHOL_503047 file, which contains additional information about compatible processors.

This information was taken from the Intel® Server Configurator Tool for this server board. For more information, please refer to the following support article:

Support article: Demo: How to Navigate or Use the Intel® Server Configurator Tool
https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000031125/server-products.html

In addition, Thermal Design Power (TDP) is the the average power, in watts, the processor dissipates when operating at Base Frequency with all cores active under an Intel-defined, high-complexity workload. It is used mostly to match up processors with an adequate heat sink that is capable of cooling down that processor effectively. In other words, the server board is capable of supporting processors with a maximum 205 W TDP.

For more information on processor population rules, you can also review the Section 3.4 Processor Population Rules of the Intel® Server Board S2600ST Product Family Technical Product Specification
