I have a problem with starting the server motherboard s2600сo. Using your "Troubleshooting Server Boot Issues" was the answer:
"Some older Intel® Server Boards are not compatible with the Intel® Xeon® Processor E5 V2. See the processor compatibility page listings, select your server board, and confirm that your board is compatible.
Some Intel Server Boards might require a BIOS upgrade before installing an Intel® Xeon® Processor E5 V2. "
I check that my processor Intel Xenon e5-2640v2, included in the list of compatible motherboard s2600so. (link below)
Next (on the advice of the above Troubleshooting), I decided to update the BIOS. Found firmware updates here:
Of course I am using the latest firmware. But it did not work . Following the instructions I could not update the BIOS.
What am i doing wrong? Maybe I should someone help?
Is the system completing the POST process? I am getting the impression it does but I would like to clarify it.
If so, what kind of error message do you get when attempting the BIOS update?
Now if the issue is that the unit is not completing POST, please provide us with the PBA of the board to determine if the revision of the board would support your processor out of the box.
To clarify the situation:
Troubleshooting Server Boot Issues (my answers):
1. I am building a system for the first time
2. My front panel has the green standby power LED lit
3. The chassis fans start spinning
4. I do not see anything (display is blank)
5. I do not hear any beeps.
As a result, they gave me a message that I wrote in the message above.
When I tried to update bios - while updating the screen it was empty, and the only thing that gave me the server is 4 beeps signal. Look for information about it, I found that it updates the BIOS error.
I hope I have given a full and correct picture of my problem.
P.S. Thanks for your help and your quick reply!
The board revision comes already with BIOS version 01.08.0003 which should support your processor. At this point, you should attempt doing firmware upgrade to version https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/23156 02.01.0002. You may attempt performing a BIOS recovery process for this. If successful, then you may go to the most recent version https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/24613/Intel-Server-Board-S2600CO-Firmware-Update-Package-f... 02.04.0003.
If the unit is still unable to POST after the BIOS recovery attempt, I would recommend contacting our http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/contactsupport Intel Customer Support team for further assistance on this matter.
Thanks for the answer!
