Why Vmware Esx4 vSphere doesn´t detect the RAID SATA mounted with integrated controller RAID with S5500HCV Motherboard? I tried with RAID 0, RAID 1 with 2 or more disks, but when I install ESX, it doesn´t detect the RAID, the disks are independent and install successfully in one of them. Are there specific S5500HCV RAID controller vmware divers?

-------------------

If it's not a supported OS, then Intel probably won't have drivers for it. And I don't see VMWare listed at

OK, but if I install SROMBSASMR module in the S5500hcv Motherboard (it support vmware)

will work RAID?

Is the same SROMBSASMR that AXXROMBSASMR?

Hello fgonzalez,

finally it worked?

I have the same issue with S5500HCV motherboard, when install ESXi 4.1 or 5.0 the raid configuration is missed.

If I get AXX4SASMOD module then the raid works with some ESXi version?

Thank you very much.

I have the AXX4SASMOD working in a S3420GP with ESXi 4.1. Note that you can only create one volume. So no point in more than 4x1TB in RAID10. Also rebuild does not always succeed while ESXi is running. I've had to let the rebuild complete while in the RAID configuration menu. So for serious production systems I would look elsewhere.

Thank you very much for your answer because I have planned to connect in RAID 1 two 250gb sata hard drives for esxi and two 2tb for virtual machines.

I have to look for another raid card. Someone can tell me a low cost hardware raid card, esxi compatible and that allow create two raid datastores?

Thanks.

2 x RAID1 sets might still work (I did not test this). What I could not do was put 4 x 2TB in a pool and then create 2 x 2TB RAID10 volumes.
