I have moved your comment over to a new thread. This may take a bit to resolve and it is easier to track problems if they are in their own threads.
From your output, it appears you are running a Debian kernel - possibly Ubuntu? And the flash version on the card has not been updated. Also, the format of the output appears to be corrupted - the mic driver version is not a valid version number and there is no SMC Firmware Version field. These symptoms seem familiar. To help me track this down, could you tell me
- did you just install this release of the MPSS?
- has the micinfo command given you the correct output at any point in the past?
- what version of the MPSS do you have installed?
- what operating system and version are you running on the host system?
- given that you appear to be running a Debian system, did you use a program like alien or did you install rpm in order to install the MPSS rpm files?
- did you rebuild the kernel module from mpss<version>/src/mpss-modules-<version>.src.rpm?

Hi Frances,
Thankyou for your reply. Here are the answers to your questions,
- did you just install this release of the MPSS?
- No, I didn't install in recently. It has been used by my lab guys for over a year now.
- has the micinfo command given you the correct output at any point in the past?
- I have no information about that - the information i have received is that OpenMP and MPI programs have worked fine and they have run a Rodinia benchmark on it.
- what version of the MPSS do you have installed?
- - this information is also not available as xeon phi was setup by someone working in my lab a year ago.
- what operating system and version are you running on the host system?
- Linux isaac 3.2.0-4-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 3.2.46-1 x86_64 GNU/Linux
- given that you appear to be running a Debian system, did you use a program like alien or did you install rpm in order to install the MPSS rpm files?
- I think rpm files were used. I have no information about how it was setup though.
- did you rebuild the kernel module from mpss<version>/src/mpss-modules-<version>.src.rpm?
- No. I haven't rebuilt the kernel model.
- No. I haven't rebuilt the kernel model.

Ah, there is nothing quite like taking over a system that someone else has been administering, is there? Well, lets see where to go from here.
The easiest way to find the MPSS version might be 'micinfo -version'. This will give you the version number of micinfo, which should match the MPSS version. That gives you the answer to your original question.
In looked back over my notes, I remembered that, on systems where the Debian installer is used, micinfo will not give the MPSS version. This implies that something like 'alien' was probably used to convert the rpm files in the MPSS release into Debian style files, then the Debian installer was used to actually install the files. Either that or the rpm utility was installed on the host prior to installing the MPSS and has since been removed. Either way, before you upgrade the MPSS you will need to find out for sure - the old version of the MPSS must be uninstalled before the new version is installed.
You said "the information i have received is that OpenMP and MPI programs have worked fine". The tense of that sentence makes me wonder - are they still able to run programs using the coprocessor or is the coprocessor no longer working? If things are not working, then we need to deal with that. Otherwise, I guess you are good to go until you get ready to install a new MPSS.
