SDK installer failed to detect 3D Camera

HI everybody,

I have my 3D Camera hooked up with a computer which meets all the requirement, USB 3.0, Windows 8.1 Pro 64bit, 4GB+ memory, etc. But somehow, during installation, the installer reports "Failed to detect 3D Camera". The "Power LED Indicator" of the camera is not on. I even tried to download firmware from Creative website, but it seems no help.

Can anybody tells me what I should do? Is there step-by-step debug instruction or installation guide for the camera?  Should I call Intel for help? Thank you in advance.

Are you sure it's a USB 3.0 root port?  You can check in device manager. Untitled.png

Yes, Device Manager shows:

ASMedia USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller - 0096 (Microsoft)

ASMedia controllers did not work with Kinect for Windows V2.  Try another USB 3.0 port if you have one.

Thank you, Jack. I got a new USB 3.0 card and it seems with the new USB 3.0, 3D camera can be found by Device Manager now.

Afanqi,

Good news.  Which USB 3.0 card did you get?  Others who are having problems might find it useful to know.

Jack

The one I bought is called Syba 4 Port USB 3.0 PCIe 2.0 x1 Controller Card with Low and Full Profile Bracket Renesas Chipset SD-PEX20137. Here is the link on Amazon:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00965J5T2/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The reason I chose this one is because it claims "Compliant with Intel's Extensible Host Controller Interface (xHCI) Specification Revision 1.0"

Thank you again for your help.

Thanks for the information Afanqi.  Which slot did you place the card into?  Was it a PCIe 2.0 x1, x4, x8, or x16?  (Again, others may find this information helpful.)

Jack

I know it is PCI, but don't know what you meant about the slot. Here I attached a picture to show where I put it. Hopefully it helps.

afanqi,

Ingo D reported in topic "RealSense Dev Kit on Windows 7 and 2nd Gen Intel Processor" that the ASMedia controller works if you update the driver to version 1.16.22.0, and don't install USB 3.0 boost.

I just did a search and found that the new driver was published last October.

Unfortunately, I was trying to resolve the Kinect v2 to ASMedia USB 3.0 controller issue with ASUS support last August.  I called repeatedly until I finally got someone on the phone who took an interest in the problem; he promised to talk to engineering but never got back to me.

So for the near term, anyone having trouble with an ASMedia controller should first install the driver update and uninstall USB 3.0 boost before buying a new controller card.

Regards,

Jack
