vtune91_002_lin.tar.gz corrupt? Unexpected EOF in archive

I have tried downloading the latest vTune tarball for evaluation but it keeps complaining that it is corrupt.
I tried using both the direct download and the download manager.
My desktop workstation is WinXP SP2, Intel P4 2.8 GHz
My Linux test server is running RHEL 5.3
I tested the below on both a cygwin session as well as a RHEL 5.3 session and get the same complaint of EOF.

# tar xzf vtune91_002_lin.tar.gz

gzip: stdin: unexpected end of file
tar: Unexpected EOF in archive
tar: Unexpected EOF in archive
tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now

Can someone tell me how to obtain a clean tarball?

Thanks!

Greetings,

Thank You for including detailed information in the post.

I have contacted the team which manages the download center to see, if they know the rootcause of the issue.

Also, I am downloading the same package on a Windows XP machine and will try to install on a Linux box . I will get back on my findings and also find options to get you the file.

Thank You
Shamla

It seems the issue is persisting.

Hi,

Please disable virus checkers, before you install the product.

I am not able to reproduce this issue. Please install it on a different machine which is outside your company firewall and also try disabling the virus checkers.

Thank You
Shamla

As this is a corporate environment, I cannot disable virus checking for any files on the Windows workstation.

I did, however, ftp directly from the Linux host via the corporate proxy and it downloaded successfully without issue.

#md5sum vtune91_002_lin.tar.gz
9b3ff507d6fc474861451e4d0182d1a4 vtune91_002_lin.tar.gz

This file extracts perfectly and I have already kicked off an install. Thanks for the help and sorry for the red herring. It very well could be the virus checking that is mangling the file or some other WinXP FTP "feature".

Cheers!

Happy to note that the issue was because the virus checker was on. Thanks for the update.
