Dear Intel Support Team,

We are using a Windows laptop with AX201.

There are multiple APs with the same ESSID.
The APs are a mix of 11ax and 11ac.

The above AX201 works as follows
- Dose not connect to nearby 11ax AP.
- Connect to a distant 11ac AP.

Depending on the AP configuration, it will behave as follows.

NoNearby APDistant APAX201  behaviorOther Device
111ax 40MHz11ac 80MHzConnect to a distant AP (11ac).Connect to a nearby AP (11ax).
211ax 40MHz11ac 40MHzConnect to a nearby AP (11ax).Connect to a nearby AP (11ax).

511ac 40MHz11ac 80MHzConnect to a distant AP (11ac).Connect to a nearby AP (11ax).

I told you in another topic that I had this happen on a Panasonic laptop.
https://community.intel.com/t5/Wireless/AX201-does-not-connect-to-nearby-APs-but-connects-to-distant-APs/td-p/1551053

Subsequently, I was able to confirm that the same phenomenon occurs on an HP laptop.
Since I believe that this phenomenon is not laptop dependent (AX201 specific), please let me know how to resolve this issue.

Attached is a text file obtained by Intel System Support Utility and a wireless capture log.
We would like to have them checked.

Hello, @Ushihara

Thank you for posting on the Intel® communities.

We understand your point of view and concern about this issue.

However, as investigated in the previous thread you opened, we reviewed and worked on this issue and it appears that the issue is not related to drivers. You need to contact the proper System Manufacturer of the system for further troubleshooting.

Best regards,

Dear Intel Support Team,

I don't understand how you can say that Intel drivers are not the problem.

I have not received answers to the following questions in the previous thread.

Is it possible to get an answer?

1)We would like to know the Intel Wireless team's view on what made them decide that the driver is not a problem.
Can you give us the Intel Wireless team's view in writing?

2)We do not know what is the correct way for AX201 to behave.
Is the behavior of AX201 in the airlog we have provided a misbehavior?
Please tell us what the correct algorithm is.

3)What do you mean by OEM support?
Should we contact Panasonic, the laptop manufacturer?
I think we will need an official statement from Intel when we contact them.
  Can we get that?

4)We have heard that similar problems occur with other companies' notebook PCs equipped with AX201.
If we attach their logs, can they proceed with the investigation again?

Best regards,

Ushihara

Hello, @Ushihara

Thank you for your time.

Our recommendation is to check with their System Manufacturer since installing latest drivers did not fix their issue and also because its an issue happening since the very beginning. There could be an issue with their OS or antenna as well, that is why we recommend checking with the system/laptop manufacturer of the proper system.

Best regards,
