Bluetooth not working on Intel Wireless 3168 card despite functional wifi

Wifi works no problem. Have uninstalled and re-installed all drivers using Intel's driver utility. Bluetooth functionality does not even appear as an option. Have followed all available online advice from Intel on this matter. At this stage could only assume there is faulty hardware on the card?

Hello nickf,

Thank you for posting on the Intel® communities.

I was checking your post and I understand that the Bluetooth is not working for your wireless adapter.

To better assist you I would appreciate if you could provide the following information:

  1. Do you see any error code in device manager for this device?
  2. What are the current drivers installed?
  3. What is the model of your computer?
  4. Please provide your operating system version.
  5. Was the device working fine at certain point? Were any changes made?

Hello nickf,

Thank you so much for your patience.

Based on the information provided, you are using the latest Intel Generic Driver.

When talking about Wireless adapters, we need to consider that as they share hardware it would be recommended the use of the latest Wireless/Bluetooth drivers that is validated to work with your computer.

I would recommend checking for any OEM drivers before installing the Intel generic software; this is to avoid any potential issue while loading a non-customized driver.

On the other hand, as you mention that the Bluetooth is not even showing in your operating system and that the device never worked, we need to consider checking the antenna for the Bluetooth.

Wireless antennas are generally provided by each OEM, as they will need to fit each computer’s and may subject to country-specific regulatory requirements.

I would recommend you to check with the manufacturer of your equipment to check if this could be a possible hardware failure.

By any chance have you checked with them?
