I recently got a Intel 7260 mini pci card and once installed it allways comes up with windows errror code 10.

The drivers are the lastest , 17.0.6.1 released a few days ago.

I'm using a dell 1537 running Win 8.1 with the lastest bios.

i have dug further. windows logs gives a few errors

Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 : The version number is incorrect for this driver.

and

Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 : Could not allocate the resources necessary for operation.

The device ID is

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_08B2&SUBSYS_42708086&REV_4B\4&B04CCE1&0&00E1

Delphian, was able to get the laptop to recognize the card, and work under ubuntu this morning. Seems like it is a windows 8/8.1 issue with the toshiba.

The card works in ubuntu V14 no issues , event on the install it picks it up and used to download updates.

so INTEL its not a hardware issue its your drivers something IS NOT RIGHT.

anyways i've ordered a broadcom card since the drivers from intel are useless.

There are a few things to consider when installing or upgrading a half mini PCI Express wireless adapter:

  • Just like any other device, not all wireless adapters are physically and electrically compatible with all systems.
  • The system BIOS could be designed to accept certain wireless adapter models only.
  • The installation of these adapters is subject to country-specific regulatory approvals which include the system, wireless adapter and antennas.

It is because of these reasons that we highly encourage to contact your http://www.intel.com/support/oems.htm system manufacturer in order to obtain a list of validated wireless adapter models that are compatible with your system and the proper means to accomplish this hardware integration.

Here is my version of an AC7260 odyssey:

I have two Acer notebooks:

- Acer Aspire 1810TZ with an Intel WiFi Link 1000

- Acer Aspire 3810TG with an Intel WiFi 5100 AGN

both are running Windows 8.1.

Upgrading the 1810TZ with an Intel AC 7260 ended with the well known Code 10 error.

After many attempts to fix it, I decided to re-install Windows from scratch. With the driver which

comes with Windows update it was finally working.

Upgrading the 3810TG was a disaster: even after a fresh install of Windows 8.1 I got this code 10 error.

Even the installation of a Windows 7 ended up with Code 10. Finally I gave up, I will

try to get a Broadcom solution.

Booting ubuntu 14.04 on both notebooks was a success: the AC 7260 was working without any problem.

Hi,

I read it, and I don´t have anywhere else to look for help. All these computers were assembled by me. I have previous Intel cards working fine. Also tried a fresh install of windows 7 on a 3rd different computer endig up with the same Code 10 error. Is there any upcoming update on the drivers to address this issue, since the linux version seems to work fine? or any workaround? Thanks for the reply,Edmilson.

It's an issue with the driver intel provides and windows 8/8.1. I gave up and switched to a different card brand. If you are interested in trying a work around, I did come across this other thread which seemed to help . A user in that thread, KD provided an interesting mod "Taped pin # 20 and pin # 51 on the Intel 7260 AC Wifi card, and reinstalled in system. The wireless and bluetooth functionality is now recognized. " There is a picture on the thread that points out the pins on the card. This seemed to do the trick for some folks. vladTepsh,

As informed above, Intel does not support integration. You can find more information on this matter here: http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/network-and-i-o/wireless-networking/000005687.html%3Fwapkw%3Dregulatory%2Binformation%2Bregarding%2Bhardware%2Binstallation Regulatory Information Regarding Hardware Installation or Upgrade

The error code 10 is generated in Device Manager under one of the scenarios below:

1. Device Manager can't start device

2. One of the driver that the device needs does not start,

3. Device Manager has insufficient information to recognize the error that is bubbled up by the device driver.

Please bear in mind that is this situation the code 10 error can be very generic message that indicates some kind of unspecified driver or device problem.

Since we don't support integration, our recommendation is for you to contact the computer manufacturer and check with them about compatibility with the type of system you have. You may find you computer manufacturer information through this link: http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/topics/OEMs.html Computer Manufacturer Support Websites
