Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 2200BG fails to get wireless setting- what do I do?

Yesterday my very old Dell laptop with Windows XP worked and connected to the internet.

Installed a new router yesterday. (due to fiber optic upgrade in my area)

Router Network is detected w/ security enabled.

Using Wi-Fi Protected Setup Wizard, I can select the network and input my password.

It will retrieve my wireless settings w/ Network Name, Security Type and I update the Password to new one . . . click Next

Tells me "Configuration in Progess" with blue bar growing -

Then . . . I get this . . .

Wi-Fi Protected Setup Wizard - give this message - "Failed to get the wireless settings, Configuration Failed"

Any ideas on what to do???

I've looked online (on desktop computer) and can't remedy the situation . . .

Frustrated and would greatly welcome YOUR HELP!

Hello,

Since the support we offer is exclusive for Intel(R) motherboards, our recommendation is contacting the computer manufacturer and we also recommend using the following website for further troubleshooting:
