Intel® Wi-Fi 7 BE200 Adapter Cannot Connect to a 6 GHz Band

I installed the 23.20.0 driver = https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/19351/windows-10-and-windows-11-wi-fi-drivers-for-intel-wireless-adapters.html

to my Dell3510 laptop having Windows *11 OS.

This PC cannot scan the Wi-Fi 7 6GHz network while the same laptop which has Ubuntu 23.10 OS can connect to the Wi-Fi 7 6GHz band.

Thank you for the reply.

After examining the beacon frames of my access point, I discovered that the problem stems from the Regulatory Info subfield in the HE Operation Information Element (IE), which was configured as an indoor standard power AP.  Upon reconfiguring it as an indoor AP, Intel® Wi-Fi 7 BE200 with Windows 11 OS can establish a Wi-Fi 7 connection with the AP over the 6GHz band.

Indoor standard power AP means AFC (Automated Frequency Coordination) system is needed for the regulatory requirements whereas indoor AP setting does not require this control system.

Gokce

If you have a router, mesh system, or access point that supports 6 GHz WiFi and your device can't detect or connect to the 6 GHz wireless band, try the following:

Make sure that your device is 6 GHz WiFi capable
Enable WPA3 security
Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA) 3 is the latest Wi-Fi Alliance security certification. WPA3 security is mandatory for devices operating in the 6 GHz wireless band. If your router, mesh system, or access point is set up to use a different WPA security version, devices cannot connect to the 6 GHz band.

Try, Change your router's 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz band settings

Use a preferred scanning channel (PSC)
Preferred scanning channels (PSCs) are a group of WiFi channels that are prioritized within the 6 GHz WiFi band. Instead of scanning the entire 6 GHz spectrum for an optimal channel, 6 GHz WiFi devices scan PSCs for efficient connectivity. Setting your router, mesh system, or access point to use a PSC can improve device connectivity.

If the issue still.remains,
Reset your client device's network settings

Hello~ genehas

I have this trouble too. My Intel BE200 Adapter only can search 2.4G and 5G signal, but cannot search WiFi 6G Band signal.

My hardware specs and Driver version:
OS: Windows 11 (23H2)
WiFi Adapter: Intel BE200
WiFi Driver: 23.30.0 & 23.20.0 (have try normal user version & IT version)
Router: ASUS RT-BE96U & ASUS GT-AXE11000

I know the AP setting maybe is little different, but could you please tell me how to change the setting?

Thank you!

Hello Sonna,

My AP has a Broadcom driver so I adjusted this setting directly from the console of the AP by using the command <wl -i wl0 reg_info 0>

  • wl0 is the index of 6GHz radio
  • 0 indicates indoor AP

Gokce

Hi

I have WiFi 7 Intel BE200 in laptop and can't connect in windows but in ubuntu I can. I have S24 ultra using hotspot mode in 6ghz and windows can't see it... It is windows fault blocking it or not enabled even all is configured in device manager in network card.. I have contacted microsoft devs driver or network team .. so hopefully it will be sorted...
