Very poor download speed with Intel Wi-Fi 7 BE200 320MHz

I recently upgraded my Spectrum internet speed from 400 mbps to 1,000 mbps.  I replaced the modem, router and extender.  They are all Spectrum equipment.  From the beginning we experienced less than stellar downloads.  After talking with Spectrum support twice they sent a repair person out to check the line and equipment.  Turns out we had a faulty router which he replaced.  All his tests showed getting close to or over 1,000 mbps speeds.  All the other devices on the network obtained a much higher speed - except my laptop.   I'm ranging from a low of 16.28 to 176 mbps.  I have used different ways to test the speed -  Google, Spectrum, Ookla - online - all basically indicating that the router is receiving speeds over 1,000 mbps but not to my laptop.  I've tried the Spectrum app on my iPhone and Speedtest from my laptop.  There's some variance in results but all are low.

I'm running the following:

Lenovo Thinkpad P1 Gen 7 (purchased in June 2025)

Processor 1x Intel® Core™ Ultra 9 185H 16 Core, 22 Logical Processors

Memory 1x 64GB LPD5X-7500

Windows 11 Pro Version 10.0.26100 Build 26100

X64-based PC

Intel Wi-Fi 7 BE200 320MHz network adapter  driver version 23.160.0.4

Spectrum Advanced WiFi 7 router - SBE1V1K

Spectrum EU2251 modem

I have updated Windows, Intel drivers, and Lenovo.

I do not have a data limit on the network.

I'm 7 feet away from the modem and router.

We have two iPhones, a Galaxy phone, an older Lenovo laptop, a Dell laptop, an Asus Desktop, Epson printer, a Sony Android TV, and an iPad on the network at various times.  My daughter, who is at the opposite end of the house, up a set of stairs, from the modem/router has an Intel Wi-Fi 7 BE202 160 MHz and is getting much faster speeds than I am.

Here are my adapter properties:

The Spectrum technician, apologized, but basically said it's a "me" problem and not their equipment.  I’ve had some suggestions from Microsoft but nothing worked.  I'm at a loss for settings to check.  Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions for me to try?

Thanks for your help.

Hello CSS17,

Thank you for posting on Intel Community Forum.

To assist you properly, kindly share the information below.

1. Were you able to have wireless connection in a normal/expected performance before?

2. Do you remember if this issue happened after a new OS update or Wireless driver update?

3. Is this the original adapter that came pre-installed in your system, or have you changed/installed a new adapter recently?

4. Have you checked if this issue happens on different networks?

Additionally, to have a better understanding of your system configuration and components please generate System Support Utility (SSU) report. Please follow instructions here and send the report - How to get the Intel® System Support Utility Logs on Windows*

I look forward to your response.

Best regards

Hi Jed,

1.  Yes.  I upgraded our Spectrum 400 mbps internet plan to a 1 GB plan on Friday, 8/22.  Prior to the upgrade and install of new Spectrum modem and router I was obtaining satisfactory speeds.  After the install I started experiencing problems but so was everyone else in the household.  After two support calls and a technician visit it turns out we had a faulty router.  He replaced the router on Monday (8/25) and everyone started receiving good speeds except me.  Prior to the upgrade we were using a Spectrum Modem and a Netgear router.

2.  No.  There were no new updates prior to the problem.  I have updated drivers from Intel and Lenovo since then trying to resolve the issue.

3. Yes.  The Intel Wi-Fi 7 BE200 320MHz network adapter is the original adapter that came with the laptop in June of this year.

4. No.  I haven't tried connecting to a different network.  I can take it elsewhere and try it if it would help.

Thank you for trying to help me.

Carol

I went out and did some testing with my laptop and ended up with the same low speeds.  Ironically, my lowest speed in any testing I've done over the past few days was at the Spectrum store.

I guess it reenforces the fact that it's not the new router and modem or the faster internet plan.

Thank you for sharing all this information.

To further troubleshoot the issue, kindly follow the outlined steps below.

1. Download and install the latest driver from Lenovo 23.140.2.1

2. Follow the Recommended Settings for 802.11ax Connectivity

3. Check if the network configuration for the router needs to be adjusted.

If you continue to experience the same issue, please let me know.

Hi Jed,

1.  I had already downloaded and installed the driver on 8/16 - before this mess started.

2.  I checked the settings - there were two that were different so I changed my settings, rebooted and nothing changed.

3.  Spectrum doesn't give you a lot to change on the router - not like when I was using a Netgear router.  I've double checked what I can but it all looks ok.  Plus, my daughter is getting the speed and she's using a Wi-Fi 7 adapter as well.

At this point I've opened a support ticket with Lenovo and they want me to ship the laptop back.  I've only had it two months so it's under warranty.  Everything was fine until the new modem and faulty router were plugged in.  The router was replaced by Spectrum three days later.  Whether or not the faulty router could have damaged my adapter I don't know enough about networking to say.

Thank you for trying to help me figure this out!  I appreciate the suggestions you made.

Carol
