Wireless AC7260 - Still not working with 17.0.2.5

I have a DELL XPS 15 Touch 9530 with the Intel Dual Band Wireless AC-7260, and the Wifi has no end of problems. With the default 16.0 driver it keeps disconnecting from the network, showing limited connection etc. Since then we have tried replacing the Wifi card, but it did not help. Upgrading to the latest 17.0.2.5 driver stops the Wifi from disconnecting, but the connection is so bad none of the web pages will load up.

We are using two access points (D-Link DAP-1665 and TP-Link WA9091ND). It works better with the 5Ghz Wifi from the D-Link access point, ping results as below:

Have you tried using a USB adapter? That looks really bad. Heck I get better pings than you when I ping your ISP:

There might be some firewall or firewall rules or antivirus or even some OEM software that conflicts with your drivers. Perform a clean boot (use a search engine if you're not sure how to do this) and see if the WiFi still has problems.

I tried with clean boot, and disable antivirus software. It seems to be ok at times but just as bad at other times. And it's totally random, does not matter if I disable the services/startup programs or not.

I tried with another wifi adapter ASUS N13 and it work fine.

Please let us know if disabling uAPSD in the adapter properties help.

It does seem to help a bit but the line is still so bad it is unusable. Connection seems to drop badly at times for no reason.

I purchased the AC7260 almost a year ago. Despite at least 6~8 firmware releases, can't hold a connection for more than 30 seconds (best case). The old Intel b and G cards were rock solid, not sure why they lost their mojo and still can't get a fix out in almost a year!!!

17.0.2.5 has mixed results for me. While on the 2.4 ghz band I can now use 40 mhz resulting in speeds faster than 150mbps, the adapter no longer functions correctly when resuming from system standby The standby issue used to be an issue with earlier drivers but was fixed in 17.0.0.34. 17.0.0.34 wouldn't let me use 40 mhz wireless on 2.4ghz. So, this driver took one step forward and two steps back for me as it is disruptive for me to reboot my pc every time I want to use wifi. The latency issue is still there but seems to happen less often with 17.0.2.5.

Im running Win 7 x64 with a functional Asus AC-68U. Other laptops do not have any problems with this router on any band.

We still need much work on stable drivers, Intel. Disappointing, yet again.

I have officially removed the 7260 and replaced it with the Intel wifi link 1000 card that used to be in my laptop. Half of the time, I would have to power on and off just to get connectivity. It is so disruptive to my workflow that its simply not worth using this card. I will wait until the a new driver release to test again. Please help, Intel.

I will make a forecast right now.... that all the major problems that people are consistently having with the Intel Dual Band Wireless AC-7260 card will not be solved satisfactorily by the end of the year..!

What will happen is there will be countless driver releases and workarounds from Intel but the outcome will be the same...

This card is not fit for purpose.... end of..!

Oooops... I may now be proved wrong in my forecast after testing the latest update 17.0.3.2... Sorry everyone

I have tried it. I am having an issue with it connecting at my college campus and at a public library connecting at 300Mbps. Cantona has tried it and he seems to like it.

no on 5Ghz. My school has 802.11N only on the 5Ghz range because of how limited the channels are on the 2.4Ghz. If I use 17.0.2.5 I can get the 300Mpbs but when I upgrade to 17.0.3.2 all I get is 54Mbps. Intel keeps wanting to blame it on the security settings when nothing has change just the drivers. My school uses WPA2-Enterprise and you have to have and the public library that I went to had an open (unsecure) network and they had dual band because they have a 2.4G and a 5G network.

I installed the new driver 17.0.3 with the following results

5Ghz network: card works well, excellent speed, good stability

2.4 Ghz Network : card works evil low-speed data transfer, the card Centrino Advance N 6235 works at three times the speed of the AC 7260.

Intel has put into the sale a product that does not meet the specifications stated!

When Intel solves the problem!

My complete disappointment

I obtained better performance with driver 16-5-3-6 but was highly unstable

I am just really frustrated because I had the Centrino Advance N 6235 but since AC is going to be the new started I upgraded to this card. My local public library says they plan on upgrading to AC in about a year or two. and I am sure my college is going to upgrade to it also in the near future.

GUYS I SOLVED THE PROBLEM

however, you will not like the solution.

i tried all the drivers from the different threads and the problem still persists. I assume that Intel has a technical design flaw in the card which they are not willing to admit (otherwise the company will go bankrupt).

So, the only solution is to switch to another card. As someone suggested in another thread, I chose Broadcom 94352 (Broadcom 4352), otherwise known as Azurewave AW-CE123H.

It has all the same functions (b/g/n/ac, bt4.0) and works flawlessly.

7260 is unfixable, unreliable crap. Same as 6235.

Intel can go **** itself.

I understand your point, but i have paid a lot for this card and if i change my wireless card to another product i lose my warranty and if i sent it to the service it would take 3-4 weeks to get back my laptop, but i need it for my job....

I admit all of the Intel's drivers unusable with this card, The oldest one, made by the Microsoft is stable enough for browsing the internet, but that also can lose connection if you are too far from the router.(~15 meter)

I also did all of the weird things that the support or other people offered but i still had huge ping spikes (300-500) and i constantly lost connection... I can't really understand how could the Microsoft make a more stable driver for an Intel product...

It's slower than Intel 7260 though and with less range. Intel 7260 is still the best though if it works for you guys. The guy above proved that it can transfer in excess of 70 MB/s which is on par with a retina macbook pro with Broadcom 4360 3x3 card. Broadcom needs 3 streams just to match the performance of the 2 stream Intel 7260. Shame for Broadcom though.
