i225-IT under Linux with igc driver: kernel message "(unnamed net_device) (uninitialized): PHC"

Hi everyone,

 

we have developed a custom NIC board using the i225-IT Ethernet Controller and so far it works fine under Linux with the igc driver.

 

However, in the kernel log (via dmesg) we stumbled across this line regarding the i225:

igc 0000:0d:00.0 (unnamed net_device) (uninitialized): PHC

Can you help us determine what this means?
Is this an error, or what does it mean?

This message you are referring to comes from the open source driver which is supported by each Linux distributor (not by Intel); I suggest you contact your Linux distributor community support. As an example see this thread from Gentoo forum:
