Hi Alfred,

I wrote below that i bought new motherboard Gigabyte H470 HD3 and got same issue with driver error, as i have at Asus PRIME z490m-plus motherboard.

JMG wrote, that he has same problem with GIGABYTE Z490 VISION G.

We have no problems with driver - we have problem that Intel Proset utility not detects Intel(R) Ethernet Connection (11) I219-V adapter, and we can not use VLANS and Teaming features.

And after that we need to wrote to Gigabyte and Asus support, that we have trouble with Intel Proset utility?

Please say us on what motherboard your engineers testing our problem, i will buy this motherboard and will use VLAN feature already.

Indeed, with Z470 or Z490 boards from multiple vendors (not just ASUS) affected, it seems readily apparent that the issue is with the Intel ProSet tools installer and its inability to correctly install on Z400 chipset-based motherboards.

I wrote earlier, confirming the findings on the Asus ROG MAXIMUS XII HERO (WI-FI) featuring the I219-V Intel network adapter.  I can now share that I am working with an Asus PRIME Z490-A featuring an I225-V.

Same behavior on both boards and adapters.  You can get the driver to install (though it says no adapters are detected).  But the PROSet suite won't install.  So we cannot use VLANs, etc.

Reproducing the issue is as simple as this. . .

1.  Procure a Gigabyte H470 HD3, Asus ROG MAXIMUS XII HERO (WI-FI), or Asus PRIME Z490-A, or perhaps any other Z470 or Z490 motherboard with an Intel network adapter.

2.  Note how you get no network "out of the box" after a fresh install of Windows.

3.  Install PROSet software package and note how it says no adapter is detected, yet does install the driver, yet fails to install PROSet suite.

4.  Done.

With respect, if Intel really wants to get to the bottom of this, they can.  It's not that expensive.  It just needs to be escalated to the point where someone takes an acute interest in it, and gets the authorization to spend about $250 to investigate it.  Then, a relatively trivial task of modifying the PROSet detection routine(s) to accommodate Intel's own Z470/490 chipset.

Here's hoping they've actually already done that for the upcoming PROSet release.

Hi Alfred S,

I have contacted ASUS before and got the following reply:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Hello, the engineer confirmed that this situation is mainly because Intel has not included the I219V device ID used by the Z490 platform into the driver, so Intel PROSet and Intel Advanced Network Services cannot be used. Intel has been notified that , Intel will update the driver on the official website.. The detailed schedule has not been confirmed yet. I suggest you also feedback to Intel at the same time. Thank you!"

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Simply put, the problem is
PROSet and Intel Advanced Network Services not included the I219V device ID used by the Z490 platform into the driver.

I would like to ask if you can disclose the motherboard model of the engineer's simulation problem.

Good day friends!

We've got the same issue with l219-LM on Dell motherboard built into Optiplex 7080 computer valued about USD900 here. Manufactured in Poland in August 2020. We bought a lot of them. Dell performed perfect onsite service, but nothing to do without Intel engineers. Our lawyers going to mount a claim against Dell because they guaranteed that new model of Optiplex 7080 replaced old 7071 has the same abilities and performance. But they are not due to defective l219 chip produced by Intel. Please hurry up to save Intel's reputation.

Good morning, Friends!

Dell reseller proposed to settle claim peacefully by supplying us with extra network interface cards for symbolic price, almost for free.

No reason to wait here, there, anywhere for decision from Intel or Microsoft due to kind of collusion between them. Roots of the story beginning at 2016, when first cases of integrated Intel 2XX "strange behavior" being discovered by PC system board users.  Two solutions: 1. Modify youself *.inf files at Intel driver and crack ProSet utility together with switching off integrity and driver's signature check at Windows... detailed description at the InterNET or elsewhere, procedure looks rather complicated, but it cost nothing except your time and it works 2. Purchase separate NIC with VLAN support from any manufacturer - it is easier, but will cost you several coins.

New release 25.4 came, but nothing changed for 2XX adapters so the problem remains actual. Please help, assist, support... Do something!

Thanks for your update, AlfredoS_Intel

Would you define the date of manufacturing of this MAXIMUS IX HERO motherboard? Presume it built before situation happened and now is discontinued. Please repeat test on actual product made in 2020 with Windows 10 Pro Version 2004 Build 19041.572 or later

Hi AlfredoS,

Engineers use ASUS MAXIMUS IX HERO TEST?

MAXIMUS IX HERO is Intel Z270 chip , Not a Z490 Chip ,

The problem I encountered was on the "MAXIMUS XII HERO" Intel Z490 chip motherboard ,

Engineers testing like this can be said to be meaningless .

The device id's of my Intel ethernet adapters on my ASUS Z-170 Deluxe motherboard are:

Intel I211 - 8086&DEV_1539

Intel I219-V - 8086&DEV_15B8

Please let me know if you need any additional information.

Hi GCatt,

I'm afraid you're suffering from some other issue with some other root cause.  I have an Asus Z170-Deluxe and am able to install the ProSet suite and set up VLANs.

As luck would have it, I also have the same board as the OP (ROG MAXIMUS XII HERO WI-FI) so can provide the requested device ID (though of course he'll want to confirm):

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0D4D&SUBSYS_86721043&REV_00
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0D4D&SUBSYS_86721043

I found this page from a google search and glad to see I am not the only one having this issue.  I have done all the trouble shooting being asked in this thread to no luck. The Pro-Set install gives me the same error as everyone else.
