Add me to the list of people who get a black screen....
HP G60t-200CTO
Windows 7 64 bit.
I uninstalled the previous intel driver (8.15.10.1986) and installed 8.15.10.2086.. and got a black screan... grrr... Other older intel drivers have worked just fine so I don't agree that it's a special vendor bios issue.

Thanks everyone for providing your system information.
So far it appears the issue only occurs on mobile/laptop systems. That is why I do not see it when testing on desktop systems.
Typically, laptop manufacturers add customizations to the graphics driver and/or VBIOS that is specific to their systems and how they want them to perform. For laptops, I always recommend that you run the latest supported and tested driver for your system provided by the systems manufacturer. If there is and issue with the driver provided by your system manufacturer, it is best to contact them to find a resolution for the issue and only use the generic driver from Intel as a last resort knowing that it may not perform correctly due to system customizations.
We are continuing to test this issue on the mobile systems we have at our disposal but so far have not been able to replicate it. This leads me to believe it is a customization issue. We will continue to look at this however, I recommend that if you are seeing this issue, that you use the latest supported driver on your systems manufacturers web site.

Mine isn't a laptop. It's a home built desktop.
OS: Windows XP Pro SP3
Mother board: ASUS P7H57D-V EVO
CPU: i5 660
I was hoping enough info was gathered from everyone else. If you really need my setup information as well I can remove the video card and install latest intel driver that causes the issue.

I installed a clean copy of Windows 7 on my laptop and Sony doesn't wanna support my laptop with Win7 , so drivers can only come from windows update or intel's web-site. (the drivers freeze my screen no matter where I get them from - winUpdate or Intel's), so I don't think it's a costumization issue.
Thanks.

I don't think I'll be able to get you all that system information. I don't have any intel drivers to "roll back" to that actaully work (Hence, the need for me to buy a video card). Is there some kind tool/utility I can run that gives the same info without installing the drivers?

So if it is Vendor customizations... why do drivers earlier than 2086 work just fine? The same "Vendor Customizations" exist there.. I really hope someone is willing to dig a little deeper into this issue. Intel was able to work around all these "Vendor custimizations" before driver 2086 just fine.

System: Acer Aspire 5740-5780 Notebook
All drivers newer than 8.15.10.2021 result in blank screen during installation. Rebooting results in Windows logo remaining on the screen forever. The system is still "operational" ... I can hear the log-on sound, but nothing on screen except the logo. Acer only offers the original release driver (typical for them). Unfortunately, newest Intel drivers fix a lot of bugs, as well supporting Flash H264 acceleration. Not the mention, its being pushed by Windows Update.
Here is a system report: (I can provide even more detailed info if necessary)

It does not have anything to do with the Core i3 processors. The issue is also occurring on previous chipset that do not use the core i3 processors. Regardless,, the issue is being investigated.

This is the system config BEFORE I updated the graphics driver. Notice the Driver Version: 8.15.10.1749.
Had to fall back on the system restore to remove the updated driver.
Will appreciate a quick fix!

I am having the same issues with a brand new system. After initial setup I downloaded and installed all updates. All went well until
it came time to install the Graphics Media Accelerator HD driver update. Then the dreaded balck/blank scrren others have been reporting. I was able to finally roll back the driver and have a working system. The problem has been isolated to the Graphics Card update installation.

I can not install driver 15.17.3.2104 (BSOD after installing), so there is no "Intel Graphics and Media Control Panel", but I can describe it manually:
Laptop: Acer Aspire 3810TG
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium x86
Attempt to install the driver version: 8.15.10.2104
Actually installed version (using OS default): 8.15.10.1749
Phisical Memory: 4 Gb
Processor: Intel Core 2 Solo U3500 1.4GHz
What else is needed?
