Can't find the name of the Intel ICD OpenGL driver

I have an HP Envy 750-424 desktop with an Intel HD 530 graphics driver. This morning Windows automatically updated the graphics driver, and Chrome stopped working with an OpenGL ES Error dialog box stating "Can't find the name of the Intel ICD OpenGL driver." I rolled back the driver from 21.20.16.4574 to 20.19.15.4454 and it fixed the issue. However, I suspect Windows will keep automatically updating the driver and causing this issue (it happened once before, with a different version number, and I was able to fix it with System Restore, so it seems to be a recurring problem). I have seen in other discussions that some drivers are provided by Intel and some are customized by manufacturers--is 21.20.16.4574 provided by Intel or by HP? Is this a bug that will be addressed ina future driver version?

Thanks,

You do need Ultima Online installed. UOsteam is a launcher for that program and adds extra features. After launching UOsteam and selecting the Client Options and Ultima Online folders you click Start and the error occurs.

As a side note, Ultima Online will run just fine without using UOSteam. No errors occur with UO directly.

Hi everyone,

Got another update... I tried with UOsteam and Ultima Online properly installed, and I was able to reproduce the issue.

The good news is that with our latest internal driver (not released yet) the issue goes away, so it is just a matter of waiting for this new driver to come out. I'll keep testing this one internally just to make sure nothing breaks from now until this driver is publicly available.

I'll keep you posted.

Kindest Regards,

Ronald M.

Hello all,

I think we are targeting end of July. However, this might change at any time depending on internal test results.

As usual, I'll keep you posted.

I dropped back to an older Net Vu (v1.16) that I had lying around. Works with that. Looks like OpenGL support arrived with v1.20

Hello Intel

I am having this problem in one of my games, so I thought I should contribute as well.

It's with Wakfu, the version distributed through Steam. I get it (twice) when I try to launch the game client from the launcher.

The game works just fine with my previous laptop, so I think it's a driver issue somewhere, and not (just?) a game bug....

It's worth noting that the game client is on 32-bit Java, which is bundled with the game, and this laptop is in Windows 10, while my previous laptop in which it works is only in Windows 8.1, with Intel Graphics 5300 whose driver might not even be up to date.

DxDiag.txt (I'd attach, but I can't find the button.)

Thanks.

Hello everyone,

Thank you for your patience. As promised, today we released our brand new driver baseline [15.46]. This driver was the one I used internally to re-test this bug, and with this one the OpenGL error is no longer showing up.

Please download, install it and let us know your feedback.

Edit 10/20/2017: I am locking this thread since we have received multiple confirmations that this issue is fixed with the aforementioned driver update.

If you experience this issue, please create a new thread using /thread/77761 this format.

Just saw this when searching and have the exact same error on my Surface Pro 4 ever since the latest updates come in (driver 21.20.16.4627).

However I want to add I only get this error when I try to launch a game I am developing form Visual Studio.. I can run the executable in Explorer fine so I guess it is some sort of a configuration issue or the order of loading DLL's or something.

This is a program using the Angle project (OpenGL ES on Direct X, Microsoft branch), which is what Google Chrome uses.

Hi,

I've been following this forum post for awhile. The issue started for me on March 26. I also play using UO Steam like a few others on this forum. I spent countless hours trying to fix this. When I had finally reverted the driver back, I found my fix. Since March, I have been on this driver - 20.19.15.4531, A06. I've had to continuously manually install it over and over again because Microsoft (usually) doesn't allow you turn off updating. Until I had called and asked for them to show me a way. To this day, I'm still receiving this message. The graphics driver update does not apply to my type of computer. It tells me it is not for my laptop therefor, not compatible for download. I'm at a complete loss and extremely frustrated and tired of dealing with this issue that is out of my hands. I have a Dell Inspiron 15, 5000 series with an i7-6500 CPU @ 2.50 GHz 2.60 GHz

Hi Ronald,

you all at Intel did a great job with this fix - GeoGebra Classic worked fine with it.

Why am I using the past tense?

Because unfortunately Win 10 Creators Update keeps reverting the Intel Drivers automatically to "its" version. Or is it Acer, the producer of my laptop?

I don't know, but after a minute or so, while testing GeoGebra, my laptop was reverted back to the 21.20.16.4534 version!

And no one asked me for permission

I've done a manual install of the drivers in Airplane Mode environment.

Now I'm first of all trying to understand if the reverting procedure is related to Acer or Windows. Then I'll try to find a solution.

If you have suggestions, there are extremely welcome!

Thanks again,

S.

Hi Simona,

Windows® 10 driver updates install on your computer automatically because that is how Microsoft* designed the operating system.

I hope the link below help on this matter, it will show how to disable automatic updates:

Hi hernanxr,

Thank you for the information. Let me help you on this matter.

Usually when you install a video card, the onboard graphics solution is electronically disabled. This means that only the graphics card will work on your computer. There are some boards that allows the computer to work with onboard graphics and video card. Please try the following to isolate this issue:

1. Make sure you are connecting the monitor directly to the video port of the external video card.

2. Check if the onboard graphics is disabled in Device Manager.

See this external link for instructions: http://smallbusiness.chron.com/disable-onboard-video-install-video-card-69176.html Disable Onboard Graphics

NOTE: This link is being offered for your convenience and should not be viewed as an endorsement by Intel of the content, products, or services offered there.

If you know if the computer is running with external video card and you are still getting this error message, please try updating to the latest graphics drivers for your https://www.geforce.com/drivers video card or contact the https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/products/10series/community/ video card manufacturer for more assistance.

Hope it helps,
