Cannot display past 1080p 60hz with a 1440p 144hz monitor

Hello, I recently bought a 1440p 144hz monitor (LG 27gl83a-b) to use with my laptop with Intel UHD Graphics and i5-1035G1 specs. The specific laptop is a Gateway 15.6 FHD Ultra Slim Notebook with 16gb RAM and 256gb SSD (model GWTN156-1BL).

 

I'm unable to change the resolution of the LG monitor past 1080p 60z.

 

As far as I understand,

I have a HDMI cable capable of 1440p 144z with 18Gbps transfer speeds.

The monitor's display ports are HDMI 2.0 capable.

The integrated GPU & processor should support past 1440p according to Intel's Product Specifications site: https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/196603/intel-core-i51035g1-processor-6m-cache-up-to-3-60-ghz.html

 

Any insight as to why I'm unable to get past 1920 x 1080p 60hz? I'm not particularly bothered if I can't get past 60hz but I'd like to get 1440p if possible.

Thank you for the information. Based on the computer's owner's manual the HDMI port supports high-definition video, if this information is accurate this will be 1080. Although you will need to confirm this information is accurate, Gateway. Your integrated graphics card will do up to 4096 x 2304@60Hz, however it also depends on what version of HDMI port the manufacturer used in this particular model. So, based on this, you might have a bandwidth limitation on your computer and that is why you are not able to get 1440.

Thank you for posting on the Intel® communities. I'm sorry for the inconvenience this might have caused you. Please help me with the following information in order to assist you: 




  •  When did the issue start? Were there any recent changes?  
  •  Are you using a straight cable into the port, or are you using any type of adapter or docking station? 
  •  To get more information from your system, please install the Intel:registered: System Support Utility (Intel:registered: SSU): https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25293/Intel-System-Support-Utility-for-Windows- Open the application and select "Everything" click on "Scan" to see the system and device information. By default, Intel:registered: SSU will take you to the "Summary View". Click on the menu where it says "Summary" to change to "Detailed View". Click on "Next", save the report and attach it to your response.

Issue started very recently as this is the first time I've tried to connect a monitor higher than 1080p 60hz to my monitor. No recent changes.

Straight HDMI cable into ports.
