Display Driver has stopped responding and has recovered

Hi. I know this question has been asked many times, but many are unanswered. I have a Dell Inspiron 1545, Window 7 64 bit. Just yesterday, my laptop kept blacking out, freezes and then unfreeze and this message would pop up saying, "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered. Display driver Intel Graphics Accelerator Drivers for Windows XP(R) stopped responding and has successfully recovered." It keeps happening around every 15-30 minutes. Sometimes, it totally blacks out. Other times, it unfreeze but the windows are blank. Someone please help me. The display adapter I have is Mobile Intel (R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family." Some people said online to update it and that might fix the problem. I went to the Intel website and updated the lastest one given, but the problem is still here. I've restored my laptop to a certain restore point, but still did not solve the problem. Suggestions and ideas? Thank you a head of time.

I tried the link you sent, the OEM and Still not working, When i installed the link above, no games would even run, u could load and then they be a frozen screen. Google Chrome was completely black and wouldn't load anything either.

I've read through every page of this thread (and many other forums online). I have tried troubleshooting the problem myself to no avail. I seem to get this same error message no matter what I do. I have updated the driver, rolled back the driver, uninstalled, re-installed, updated again. Simply updating the driver isn't working. I have tried every combination of BIOS setting that exists. I have updated the BIOS, firmware, tried connecting monitors with VGA, DVI and HDMI. I have even tried different monitors. I had this issue with both Windows 7 and Windows 8, 32 and 64 bit (although I am not really interested in upgrading everyone to Windows 8 yet so would like to keep this as a Windows 7 issue). Depending on what the computer has open and running for programs, this thing can crash upwards of 8 times per minute. Sometimes it even requires a hard restart. This is my last ditch effort to see if you have any solutions/ideas. The following info isn't based on default settings, it is just the last thing I tried. Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer.

Hi there

I know I am like the 30th person to need help with this, but I can't seem to find a solution that works for me.

To me, this happens when I launch certain programs and games. The program stops responding, the screen flashes very briefly, and then sends the message "Intel HD graphics fro windows 8 has stopped responding and has restored" (or something like that) this basically means that I have to shut the program down, and open it again, where it just happens again after 2-4 minutes.

I only read the 1st page on this problem but I'm listening to my wife talking on Skype. She complained the screen went black and stated the driver problem as you have all had. I googled the problem and ended up here. While I'm trying to figure it all out she signed off Firefox and went back on with I Explorer. It's been 20 minutes now working fine where as it was failing every minute or so on Firefox. Sorry if I'm repeating something that was discovered in the last 28 pages, just thought I'd throw in my 2 cents.

Hi nic, I am using Acer Aspire. This "Display driver stopped responding...." message I get since days and just more and more times day by day. Also after about the 5th successful recovery next time just keep trying but Dump and reboot.

Choose 'yes'. This will replace your current driver config with the new one (which is what we're looking for). If for some reason there was an issue with the driver installation after it completes, you can always boot into safe mode (which uses the 'Default' VGA driver) and remove it. Let me know how it goes
