There is SR-IOV support for 12th gen and above, and GVT-g support for 10th gen and under. I bought an 11th gen rocket lake for its new Xe iGPU, but i can't pass it into multiple virtual machines without proper driver support under Linux. Will there be GVT-g or SR-IOV support on desktop 11th gens?

Hello icanc,
Thank you for posting on the Intel®️ communities. I see that you want to know if 11th Generation Intel® Core™ Processors support GVT-g or SR-IOV, I will be happy to help you.
GVT-g technology is not supported, SR-IOV (Single Root IO Virtualization) is supported only on platforms with 11th Generation Intel® Core™ "G" Processors (products formerly known as Tiger Lake) or newer.
For more information, you can visit Do 11th Generation Intel® Processors Support GVT-g Technology?
Let me know if you have further questions.

Hello icanc,
Thank you for your response.
I will start with an investigation to provide you with accurate information as soon as possible, and also to check if there is a way to pass the integrated GPU into multiple VMs.

Thank you, it seems like this is only the case for some 10th gen and 11th gen rocket lake, thank you for your time.
Hello icanc,
I was working on the investigation and there is no way to pass the integrated GPU into multiple VMs on 11th gen rocket lake, as mentioned previously GVT-g technology is not supported, SR-IOV (Single Root IO Virtualization) is supported only on platforms with 11th Generation Intel® Core™ "G" Processors (products formerly known as Tiger Lake) or newer.
Let me know if you have further questions.

Yes, now that its confirmed splitting the igpu into multiple VMs isnt possible, could you provide me with some technical details as to why this isnt supported? As far as i know, the 10th gen mobile CPUs has support for SR-IOV, but they are released half a year before 11th gen desktop.
Hello icanc,
Thank you for your answer.
I will continue with the investigation to provide you with accurate technical details about why SR-IOV isn't supported by 11th Generation Intel® Core™ (products formerly known as Rocket Lake).

Hello icanc,
Thank you for your time.
We have been working on the investigation to explain with some technical details as to why this isn't supported, unfortunately, there is not much information we can share, these decisions are made by the business unit based on marketing and technical research according to benchmarks and competitors, these decisions are Intel confidential.

I see, that seems unfortunate but thank you very much for your time in the investigation.
Hello icanc,
Thank you for your understanding.
As we already know GVT-g technology is not supported, SR-IOV (Single Root IO Virtualization) is supported only on platforms with 11th Generation Intel® Core™ "G" Processors (products formerly known as Tiger Lake) or newer, we will close this thread. If you need any additional information, please submit a new question as this thread will no longer be monitored.
