After installing the latest drivers from Intel HD Graphics 4000 is no longer output the picture on TV connected via HDMI. When removing intel driver and install a standard driver windows 7 TV through HDMI works in clone mode desktop. If start the installation of the latest drivers from Intel after installation and before rebooting the PC it works perfectly - there is an image on the TV, it can be configured as a clone mode and the extended desktop mode, but after rebooting the image on the TV disappears. How to make the TV displays the image after restart the PC with the latest drivers Intel HD Graphics 4000?

CPU - core i5 3570K

MotherBoard - Gigabyte Z77-DS3H

Win 7 64bit

No discrete graphics card

TV - Philips 32PFL8404H

@Dom: The driver you have installed looks to be our generic one. You should check your OEM* or graphics card manufacturer's website to see if they have a Switchable Graphics driver for you to install (we do not provide those). Additionally, you won't be able to run 3 displays off of both the onboard graphics & the graphics card at the same time, just one or the other.

@Iwinew: Hello. You are in the right forums for asking that question. Could you start a new thread for this issue though? Thank you.

@Gareth: Try uninstalling your existing driver and re-installing the one I've linked you to. Sometimes it prevents the installation of a generic driver when an OEM* provided one is already installed.

Thanks everyone,

-Nic

l.s.

Looks like the same problem here. Trying to build a kiosk solution bases on Intel NUC with two (older) Panasonic HD tv's. Dual screen does not work, only first screen will display ( windows 8, Intel NUC, latest BIOS and drivers ).

We tried everything ( cables, updates, drivers, ), but upto now impossible to get these two HDMI screens working.

My new Dell Inspiron 64 bit 15R221 laptop with Intel 4000 worked on day one with HDMI to TV, continued to work Jan 24-March 10 then quit, followed all hints, two different TVs, two different cables; finally downloaded Intel update recommended by Intel online analysis, rebooted, no improvement, then after second reboot TV appeared, I closed the laptop (sleep mode) and came back later, opened the laptop, TV carried message that computer had crashed, on reboot subsequently no HDMI connection (does not detect second screen). It's under warranty-- I wonder if Dell will fix it? Help!

@L. Fock: Can you provide for me the following information please?

1. The exact make/model of the NUC you're using.

2. The exact make/model of the displays you are connecting to.

3. Are you able to get an individual screen working (single display mode)?

4. A copy of your dxdiag (start -> run -> dxdiag -> save all information)

@I Hamner: Can you provide for me the following information please?

1. The exact make/model of the displays you are connecting to.

2. A copy of your dxdiag (start -> run -> dxdiag -> save all information)

Thanks all,

@nic

I originally started out with the manufacturer's driver set as noted in my original post, I only switched to the generic one provided by Intel when that one proved inadequate. None the less I do have three monitors running, the TV using the motherboard's on-board Intel chipset and two BenQ monitors on the AMD video card (see inserted photo of a PrintScreen).

I recently purchased a new TV to use as a monitor (an Insignia NS-39E480A13) and it does not exhibit the same issue and behaves normally when rebooting or coming out of sleep mode so you're saved (in my case at least) by my desire for a large, higher resolution third monitor.

@Gareth: Try using the have disk method with the .ZIP driver file instead; http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=22520&lang=eng http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=22520&lang=eng

Here's the have disk method; http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/sb/CS-033915.htm Graphics — How to update graphics driver for Microsoft Windows 7*

Let me know how it goes,

Hi Nic,

I uninstalled to windows VGA driver, unzipped the driver into a folder and first of all using the update driver method tried just pointing it to the folder and windows said my driver was up to date even though i was only using VGA driver lol, so I tried again using the have disk method and pointing directly to the driver and it said it had encoutered an error during the installation and didn't support this version of windows but still asked me to do a restart, after a restart I now have verson 9.17.10.2932 which is weird as its not the version I downloaded, no change with the hdmi problem.

Not sure if it makes any difference but this laptop has a celeron processorand the driver was listed for intel core.

Thanks.

My Inspiron Dell laptop new Jan 24 2012 was not connecting to TV when I posted March 10 but suddenly worked connecting to Toshiba TV on March 12. Today again no video connection. Windows defender is on, antivirus is AVG. There were two auto downloads on morning of March 12 whereupon connection to TV worked and four auto downloads this AM whereupon connection did not work. Probably a red herring. No idea what the downloads are.

You ask for info on NUC but I don't know how to provide that--I am not a techie. Also don't know how to provide long list of specs. I did try to download a March 9 new driver from Intel --a recommended update-- before the spontaneous recovery but that had no effect. Anyway, no HDMI connection toTV, two different cabes, two different TVs (both Toshibas).

Today March 14 in a 45-minute session a Dell support person after trying new drivers finally modified my BIOS and recovered a functioning HDMI output. Go figure.

Good news is that the call was answered promptly and the technician got the problem fixed.

Happy end. Hope it's the end.

Hi I Hamner,

Do you know what you had to modify in the BIOS to make things work?

No idea what change was made to BIOS, the Dell engineer had control of my computer. He earlier in session downloaded and replaced Intel drivers to no avail. I am careful with the cables and had tried two different HDMI cables, three TVs, all of the usual hints. I had another laptop (Toshiba) Win 7 that worked fine with both cables and with all TVs. Appreciate your note and ideas. Thanks.

If they were making BIOS changes, remotely - from your desktop, they would have only been able to run a BIOS update on your system. Any individual changes to the BIOS would have to be made pre-boot, and that would not have allowed them remote access into your system.

I'm thinking he ran a BIOS update on your machine. Do you happen to have the dxdiag I requested before, as well as a copy of an updated dxdiag since the tech fixed your machine?

Thanks,

-Nic

I'm also having a similar issue, I've got an Insignia television hooked up to the HDMI connection on an ASUS P8Z77-V LX motherboard. I've noticed that when the television is connected and everything is working fine I have the icon for the Intel 4000 graphics down in Notification area and after my computer comes out of sleep mode the icon is no longer there and running the igfxtray.exe file does nothing even with Run as Administrator. I was originally using driver 9.17.10.2884 which is what came on the chipset CD for my motherboard but I downloaded 9.17.10.2932 and gave that a whirl but there was no change. Doing a Restart or Shut Down doesn't change anything, the television is not autodetected.

I've found that if I unplug the HDMI connector from the television and then plug it back in the screens all reset, the television is picked back up again and the Intel 4000 icon reappears but rebooting does nothing, just like these other folks.

Hi Nic, I have this issue with an n5050 inspiron, servic tag:8yqwdr1

Hdmi used to work fine but one day i updated windows and the only way i could get it working was to plug it in and re-boot the machine but after a while it stopped working all together, I have tried various cables and TV's, updated all drivers including bios etc and tried several old drivers people have had luck with here in the forum, the laptop detects the tv when i plug in the HD cable but just get a black screen on the tv. I am currently using graphics driver: 9.17.10.2843

Any help would be much apreciated, my dxdiag is as follows:

Thanks for the info everyone!

@Dom: You are using an AMD* graphics product, you'll need to contact them for assistance.

@Oliver: Can you provide the exact model name for your monitor please? Also, who is the name/manufacturer of your system and/or motherboard?

@Huy Le: What is the latest driver version you've tried?

@Gareth: Can you try using our latest driver and see if it improves anything for you? http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=22521&lang=eng http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=22521&lang=eng

Nic I realize that I have an AMD card but the two BenQ monitors are plugged in to that, the television is plugged in to the motherboard which is using the Intel 4000 drivers. The two BenQ monitors work just fine.

Hi Nic,

It has been almost 3 months since this thread was created and a lot of people seem to be experiencing this issue. While I appreciate all the back and forth discussions and the efforts taken to identify the problem, I would like to know when we can expect a solution for this problem. Performing a web search on this issue also indicates a bigger subset of customers affected with this problem.

I would appreciate it if you could shed some visibility on the expected timeframe for a solution.

Thanks

Hi Ahmad. We've been collecting various configuration information in an attempt to locate a non-working configuration. So far we've been unsuccessful in reproducing issues experienced with Intel* hardware (such as the few NUC's experiencing the issue). That being said, one of the best alternatives we have to correcting this problem is going to be a request from us to the community.

We're now in the process, and I will ask here as well, of trying to get a known-non-functioning configuration sent to us. If you have a system + display + cable that you would be willing to send us, a setup that you have verified is experiencing this black screen problem, we may be able to identify this issue and come up with a fix for it.

This is important, because even if you we were given just a list of components that have experienced the issue, it will not work unless we also have the exact system experiencing the problem.

If there are any users in this thread that are willing to temporarily donate their system for this purpose, please send me a private message. Be aware that your system will be extensively troubleshot by our engineers, and it may be some time before you get the system back.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation, I would like to find a fix for this soon.

-Nic

I'll throw in my 2c on what appears to be the same problem:

Machine:

Asus P8z77-I deluxe (mITX), i7 3770K, no vid card installed.

LG Flatron W2442PA, Dell 1801FP (1st gen).

Windows 8 Pro 64 bit.

Latest intel driver installed.

Symptom:

When plugging in the LG to the HDMI output of the computer, the monitor appears to search for a signal and then goes into power saving mode. When plugging the HDMI output of the computer into the Dell monitor (using a passive HDMI to DVI dongle), I get a picture, but it has a pink/purple overlay (almost like it's using the wrong color scheme).

When plugging either monitor in via the DVI connection on the motherboard, the correct picture is displayed for both.

This is my work system so I can't send it off, but my dual monitor setup isn't working since my motherboard only has one HDMI and one DVI connection (and displayport).

Hi Nic,

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, I am not able to send my system in. Nevertheless, have you guys come up with any theories as to why this might be happening?
