I have an Intel Arc B580

I noticed that some settings reset themselves after driver updates
- Installation mode changed from Clean to Express
- Software updates changed from Download to Notification
- IGS Language changed from English to Use System Default

No this issue is not exclusive to the latest driver update and has occured for a while.

Hi @djmrFunnyMan

I just want to clarify if these changes make it harder to navigate the Intel Graphics Software. Are they affecting your usage and tasks while using the software? Please let me know your specific needs and exact issues so I can better address them. Looking forward to your response.

Yes these changes do affect my experience. It's extremely annoying to have my preferences reset after every driver update and having to reapply them manually.

Hi @djmrFunnyMan

This is acknowledged. I will coordinate this feedback internally and check if we can provide recommendations for tweaks in the settings, software, or driver-related issues that need to be fixed and improved. I will post an update here once I have more information. Thank you for your patience.

Hi @djmrFunnyMan

I have coordinated your concern internally to check for any reported issues similar to yours. It appears that your case is unique, as custom settings are typically retained even after a driver update, but this was not the case for you.

Upon reviewing the SSU log report, I noticed you are currently using driver version 32.0.101.6732. Could you please let me know if the issue occurred before updating to this version, or if you have a list of drivers you have tested? We are trying to isolate the issue with the specific driver you mentioned, as we are currently on version 32.0.101.6734 (WHQL Certified).

Additionally, have you performed a clean installation using DDU before applying the latest driver? If possible, could you provide screenshots or recordings from your end? This will help us understand the context and allow us to attempt replicating the issue on our end.

I appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work to resolve your concern.

1. I think the issue occured in past driver updates as well
2. I didn't do any extensive testing on my side
3. I have not performed a DDU installation in a while

I will notify you whenever the next driver update comes out if my settings reset after the update

Hi @djmrFunnyMan,

Thank you for the update. Using DDU is advisable whenever you perform a driver update, especially if you encounter issues afterward, as a clean installation is recommended. Since we do not have specific drivers to test on our end, and you have observed this issue, may I suggest closing this ticket for now, as no further actions are required at the moment? However, you are welcome to report any issues after testing our newest driver available in the download center.

Additionally, it might be worth checking for any background tasks or applications that could be triggering the issue and ensure there are no conflicts following the default settings by the software. Please let me know if you need further assistance, or if we can proceed with closing this ticket. You can always reach out to us again if you need help with this concern. Thank you for your cooperation.

Hi @djmrFunnyMan,

Our investigation has involved testing with both the Intel B570 and Intel B580 models. We have identified that the scaling option changes automatically after updating to version 32.0.101.6734, specifically for the Intel Arc B570 model. We are currently working to understand the root cause of this behavior and to find a solution.

Below is the original setting of the graphics card from version: 32.0.101.6632

Below are the modified settings:

Please rest assured that you do not need to wait for a newer update to address this issue. We are committed to assisting you and will continue to investigate on your behalf. We will keep you informed of any developments and potential solutions as soon as they become available.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

I am still experiencing this issue

Before updating to 32.0.101.6737:

before update.png

After updating to 32.0.101.6737:

after update.png

After updating to 32.0.101.6737 (changed language back to english so you can understand)

after update (english).png

Of note is the settings don't reset immediatelly. To reproduce this I had to

- Install the update
- Close IGS myself
- Wait a few minutes
- Reopen IGS

Also obviously the language won't change if your system is already in english. It changes from "English" to "Use System Default" so this only affects Windows installations that aren't in English

Hello @djmrFunnyMan,

We are actively working on the graphics settings issue you reported and are committed to resolving it as swiftly as possible. To ensure we address the problem accurately, I need to clarify a few details regarding your testing method:

  1. After updating the graphics driver, do you reboot the system, or do you simply close the Intel Graphics Software and restart it manually?
  2. During the driver update process, do you use Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) for a clean update, or do you utilize the update option within Intel Graphics Software (IGS)?
  3. When you press "reset settings," are you able to revert to your previous settings, or is this option also affected by the issue?

Your feedback on these points will be invaluable in helping us pinpoint the cause and implement an effective solution. Please let us know at your earliest convenience.

Thank you for your cooperation and patience. We look forward to your response.

1. I simply closed the IGS window and waited a few minutes
2. I utilize the option within the IGS
3. I don't understand this question. The issue is that my settings are being reset to default after an update. What is pressing "reset settings" myself supposed to achieve? It will just reset the settings again. It's impossible for this to restore my previous settings as they are not the defaults.

Hello @djmrFunnyMan,

I wanted to inform you that I have coordinated your case internally to ensure a smooth resolution.

To proceed, I kindly ask for your clarification on how you perform updates on your system. This will help us provide you with the most accurate guidance.

Regarding the driver installation, please note the following expected behaviors:

  • Setting the installation mode in IGS to "Clean" will reset all your current settings. This option is ideal if you wish to start fresh without retaining previous configurations.
  • If you prefer to keep your existing settings, we recommend using the "Express" installation mode. This option will preserve your current configurations while updating the necessary components.

Please let us know your preferred installation mode or if you have any questions.

I use "Clean" installation mode in IGS because from my experience, using express mode will lead to problems over time (not an Intel issue, that's how it is in general for driver updates for AMD and Nvidia as well)

I would say the settings resetting themselves after a clean driver installation is unexpected and confusing for the following reasons:

- That's not how it works for other vendors. ie. downloading a driver update from the Nvidia app and setting installation mode to clean will not reset the NV app settings.
- I am installing a driver update. I don't see why a clean driver update would nessecitate resetting IGS as well since its a different piece of software.
- The settings being reset are purely prefference and have no impact on the GPU driver. My language settings and preffered installation method have no impact on the GPU behavior. I'd understand stuff like overclock tuner and post processing settings being reset but not this.

Hello @djmrFunnyMan,

I understand that clean installations are intended to provide a fresh start and optimal performance. However, it's crucial for users to have clear expectations about any changes that may occur. Let me discuss this internally, and I will get back to you with our stance on your feedback.

Same problem here! After every update (WHQL/non-WHQL), it reverts to its default settings. I always select "Express" installation.
