I don't really know how to explain this. when watching videos on you tube, sometimes i get pixels that show up in strange places. this is a screenshot of some artifacts i seen on some comments.

https://www.youtube.com/shorts/n80K5tvPRe0

This is the link to the youtube video, i used middle mouse click to slowly scroll and this happened.

If you can recreate it with this link, good stuff, otherwise you can close this thread and just take note that these things happen (its never bad, just strange is all)

Gtx 960 is disabled, i had these issues before installing the second gpu (for Physx)
ignore the GTX 960. (it doesnt have these artifacts when i turned it on and looked at the same thing)

Puffalo_0-1744631423920.png

Edit: the slower you scroll the more lines appear

Another Edit: This can be recreated on any youtube short, just middle mouse click and scroll slowly down

I just tested it on 3 different videos and even refreshed the page lol

Hi, Puffalo.

Thank you for sharing your findings in the Community. I appreciate the detailed steps and GPU information provided.

Based on your testing, it's a bit strange. This appears to be a minor rendering artifact during slow scrolling on YouTube Shorts, likely related to browser or display processing. Since it doesn’t affect core functionality, I agree it's a visual anomaly rather than a critical issue. To proceed, kindly share the following information:

  • Which browser and version are you using when the artifacts appear? Have you tested other browsers (e.g., Chrome, Edge, Firefox)?
  • Does this happen only on YouTube Shorts, or have you seen it on other sites (e.g., Twitch, Vimeo, Facebook or other applications)?
  • Do the artifacts remain when you pause or stop scrolling, or do they disappear right away? I tested the link and noticed similar lines after the Like button when scrolling, this may point to a YouTube-specific issue.

Also, If you've tried any troubleshooting steps before reaching out, please share them to help us avoid repeating efforts

Have a nice day!

When i was Testing the lines, they only appear from the like button on some comments, and they retract back into the like button if i scroll up. This isnt a critical issue, just a weird phenomenon.

The other issues i have seen is when watching a normal youtube video, when you put your mouse on the seek bar, sometimes little red dots will appear a few pixels above or below the bar. Im not sure how to recreate it but its quite common. Again this is low priority, just strange things i have seen

I have recently used OPERA GX and i was having the same issue in youtube, so im thinking that maybe it has something to do with the video player that youtube uses. it just doesnt play well with the intel drivers.

Hello, Puffalo.

Thank you for sharing the details of the issue you're experiencing. It seems like you're encountering some graphical anomalies, particularly with YouTube and the seek bar, as well as the strange behavior with lines appearing near the like button. I understand that these are not critical issues, but I appreciate your observations, as they help us investigate further.

I will need to conduct additional research on this issue and post an update in this thread once I have more information.

Hello, Puffalo.

Thank you for your continued patience as I work to resolve the issue you're experiencing. To ensure I move forward efficiently, I am currently preparing a replication based on your case. In the meantime, I would appreciate your assistance in confirming a few additional details that are critical for accurate reproduction of the problem:

  1. Is the hardware acceleration turned on?
  2. Have you tried disabling any browser extensions?
  3. Are you using dark mode or incognito/private browsing mode when the issue occurs?
  4. Does the issue also happen with Microsoft Edge?
  5. Have you cleared your browser's cache and cookies?

Once I receive your response, I will initiate the simulation process to pinpoint the root cause.

1. Hardware acceleration is on
2. After disabling all extentions, issue persisted
3. I am using dark mode, i refuse to use light mode.
4. The issue happened on both Chrome and OperaGX, I no longer have microsoft edge installed.
5. I cleared the cache and cookies on both browsers and the issue persists.

I have since restarted my computer 3 times and the issue is easily repeatable, i am on the most recent driver.
Middle mouse click the comments on a youtube short
drag mouse down to slowly scroll down

This will create visual artifacts.

Hello, Puffalo.

Thank you for sharing this information and for outlining the troubleshooting steps you've already taken. This is incredibly helpful. Given that hardware acceleration is enabled, extensions have been disabled, cache and cookies have been cleared, and the issue persists across multiple browsers (Chrome and Opera GX) with the latest drivers installed, it's clear you've taken thorough and methodical steps to isolate the root cause. The fact that the issue is easily reproducible, even after multiple restarts, suggests a potential compatibility issue, possibly related to GPU rendering in specific browser environments when interacting with YouTube Shorts.

In the meantime, I will need to do further research on this matter and post the response on this thread once available.
