Max7000A CPLD programming, MAX PLUS II

Hi there,

we have several dozen legacy hardware platforms that we need to program with the Max7000A cpld (EPM7265A). Research indicates that this is only supported with the MAX PLUS II software (does not work with Quartus).

Is there any way to obtain MAX PLUS II?

Thanks anyone for your help on this, it is fairly urgent for us to get this platform running, as a respin for this board is out of the question for our deadline.

Thanks and cheers!

Chester

Exactly what part number(s)?

Do you need to just (re)program devices with an existing image?

Or start with updated source code and regenerate new programming images?

It is EPM7256ATC100-7.

We need to use updated source code and generate new images.

Unfortunately 13.0sp1/13.1 do not support the MAX EPM7000A series.

The requested MaxPlusII 10.2 version is required for that series of that family.

Hi,

You can refer to ADV 2030 for discontinuance of MAX+PLUS II.

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/content-details/677733/customer-advisory-adv2030-discontinuance-of-max-plus-ii-software.html?DocID=677733

In the ADV2030, it mention that you can option for Quartus 13.0 SPI for MAX7000.

Since the device MAX7000 and MAX+PLUS II software is obsolete, we only have limited information on this. Hence we are unable to support this case further.

Aiman

As an FYI, regardless of what ADV 2030 says, I have Quartus 13.0sp1 installed with MAX7000 support, and use it all the time for 3000A and 7000S devices. The ONLY supported/available MAX series devices listed under the Device Selection Menu are:

  • MAX3000A
  • MAX7000AE
  • MAX7000B
  • MAX7000S

Specifically the following are NOT available for selection. Any members of:

  • MAX3000
  • MAX7000
  • MAX7000A

So I would postulate Quartus 13.0sp1 is not an option and probably MaxPlusII 10.2 is the only viable solution.

ADV 2030 is INCORRECT in stating that MAX7000 and/or MAX7000A are supported by Quartus 13.0sp1.
