Hi all,
is it possible to use an enhanced configuration device (EPC16) to configure a Cyclone III FPGA. I just found a short statement in some other thread that is not possible. If so, could someone tell me the reason for this. Regards, ChristianLink Copied

You need an EPCS16 to program a CIII FPGA. EPC16 does not exist.

For sure they exist (enhanced configuration devices, i don't talk about serial configuration devices). The question is if there is any particular reason why they cannot be used to program a CIII device.

indeed they exist. not sure the reason that Cyclone III is said not to be supported. the EPC family is fairly old. maybe a MAXII with PFL is a better/recommended option for PS?
