Hello to all of you !!!

This is my first thread in this forum.

I am completely new in FPGAs. I am an embedded designer worked on several different uC platforms, from 8 up to 32 bits. Althought I have a big experience in uCs, I know nothing about Hardware Description Languages....and to tell you the truth I would like to stay in C world.

I just bought a dev. kit that has a CYCLONE 3 FPGA (EP3C16Q240C8N) onboard. It' s my first time I am trying to learn how to work with FPGAs.

While googlng, I red about the NIOS II C compiler.

Would you be able to inform me if NIOS II C compiler is suitable for the Part Number I have.

I would also like to ask your help in order to make my first steps in this very different world.

Thank you all.

You need to implement the NIOS II processor on your hardware, details are on the Altera web site. Before doing that you should learn the basics of using FPGAs with Verilog or VHDL.
