Hello,
I used to use Quartus II (14.1) about a year ago without any problem. Now I upgraded the computer and downloaded the new version Quartus Prime Lite Edition. The new version (free) is not generating the .sof file after synthesis and analysis. No error is reported, same project I used before on the old version of Quartus. Google says that it might be lack of licensing. But I am using the free version with a ridiculously small project (2 gates). Ah... My target FPGA is Cyclone IV EP4CE30 Please help! Tks, Rodrigo.Link Copied

The .sof file is not generated after analysis and synthesis. It's generated by the assembler, which runs after the fitter. Are you letting Quartus run all of the steps or stopping after analysis and synthesis?- Mark as New

Hello,
I've been using the "start compilation" button at Quartus. Yesterday, after trying dozen times, it worked. (For reasons that are beyond the context here) I am testing it on a rubbish Celeron computer. every time it failed, it took around 2 minutes. When it worked, it took more than 5 minutes. Is there any kind of timeout somewhere that are preventing me to have success and I was just lucky when it worked? If no, then I probably changed something somewhere on a trial and error basis and now I cannot pinpoint what I did. Tks
