Adding a SCSI card to Inter server under VMWare 4.1

According to the VMWare website the Adaptec ASC-29320LPE HBA is compatible with it. It also says "refer to the compatibility list provided by the system vendor before adding a certified device to a certified system" I can't find this for our Inter server SR1625URSAS. Has anyone had success or know of any good reason why it may not work?

That tested list is linked from http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/server/s5520ur/sb/CS-030027.htm http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/server/s5520ur/sb/CS-030027.htm

I do see a couple SCSI cards on there, but not the Adaptec card. I would very strongly recommend *not* using a card that isn't on the list. Even if it works once, there is no guarantee it will be stable or reliable.

I was becoming tempted to take the risk, but with my gut feeling and your response I'll do this another way. Thanks.

I agree with Dan... Btw, are you planning to use an external SCSI storage? Because even the ASC-29320LPE card may work with the board there's no way to connect any internal drives to the card.
