Access to old version (7.0.x)?

Hello!

Does anyone know how to get the old version(s)? We purchased v7.1 for windows a few years ago but now we need the Linux one and they no longer sell it. I also applied for the community license but it doesn't grant access to any of earlier versions.

Are we supposed to buy the Parallel Studio or System Studio? But is the access to older version guaranteed?

PS: I already downloaded the files, but neither our old license nor the new community license can be applied.

Hi Matthew and Ji-Ping,

Unfortunately you can't download a different OS version other than your licensed OS version. But with any paid license, you will be able to download all the older versions with the same licensed OS, and it is guaranteed. So, if you need a different OS version, you can buy the latest version in that OS, then you will be able to access any older version or even some newer version (released before your license expiration date) of that OS.

Here are the link to buy Parallel Studio https://software.intel.com/en-us/intel-parallel-studio-xe/try-buy, and the link to buy System Studio https://software.intel.com/en-us/intel-system-studio/try-buy. And here is an article as how to access the order versions http://How do I get an older version of an Intel® Software Development Product?

Depending on the functions, there can be changes or deprecated functions for 9.0.3. Here is an article explains how to build old samples with legacy libraries https://software.intel.com/en-us/articles/how-to-build-former-intel-ipp-samples-with-ipp-90-legacy-librariesHope this helps.

Hi Ji-Ping,

Your paid license is for Windows, so you can't get Linux version. With paid license, you should be able to access all the older versions in the same OS, but community license doesn't allow access to any older version. Parallel Studio is more for parallel processing on systems in Windows/ Linux/ OS X, System Studio is more for embedded system and devices. May I ask the reason why you are still using the old version instead of porting to the latest one? Thanks!

I'm in a similar boat. Bought IPPv7 for Windows and Linux, and now need it for OSX, but there's no option to buy the old (v7) OSX build.

Personally, I'm avoiding upgrading because:

  • The existing version gets the job done. The only reason we are considering upgrading is due to a bug in IPP/UMC that causes crashes under specific circumstances.
  • Upgrading doesn't really provide any added value, and it's more expensive.

Hi,

Is it possible to download a trial or purchase the full copy of IPPv7 for OSX? I'm evaluating Parallel Studio XE and am considering purchasing a few licenses/seats for Linux, OSX, and Windows, but I need OSX IPP v7 for a proof-of-concept demo to justify the cost. I've spent weeks going back and forth with Intel support, clicking all sorts of obscure links on their advice to acquire IPPv7 for OSX, and got nowhere. I just need a URL or FTP download.

Hi Matthew,

I understand your needs, but can you use community license of IPP 9.0.3 for OS X for your demo? What other Intel supports are you getting from? Through a different forum maybe? In the mean time, I will get back to you once I have more information regarding your license.

Is v9.0.3 API-identical to v7? At this time, I don't have the cycles to re-write my libraries if the API has changed or functions have been deprecated.

Please feel free to take this discussion offline and continue via e-mail.

That article on building former samples with IPP-current (ie: v9) is quite handy. Wish I had found that months ago. Thank you. It might be enough to put together an MCVE to justify the upgrade purchase. Question: is there any special pricing or discounts on the purchase of Parallel Studio XE (Windows, Linux, OSX) for IPPv7 customers? Thanks again!

@Shaojuan Z.: We don't use IPP directly, but the PJSIP which we use depends on IPP and old samples for some of legacy audio codecs. They haven't updated the related code since 7.0.x many years ago.

As for the newer version, are we allowed legally to build and redistribute old samples with the new community version of IPP, now that the samples are no longer part of it?

I too would be interested in knowing the answer to this. If the only reason I need a new version of IPP is to address a potential bug in UMC, are there any legal constraints that would prevent the approach suggested by Ji-Ping?

Hi Ji-Ping and Matthew,

There are no legal constrains with community license. Just keep in mind, community license only allows download of the latest version without Premier Support, and it is valid for one year.

As to "discounts on the purchase of Parallel Studio XE (Windows, Linux, OSX) for IPPv7 customers", I will consult our sales and get back through private message once I have further information. Thanks!

Hello! We just bought the Intel Parallel Studio XE Composer Edition for C++ Linux and I can download IPP for Linux 7.0.7, but upon entering the serial key, the installer replied "Registration failed for unknown reason"

I also tried offline registration by license file - it then said "The license file(s) you provided is not valid for this product"

I have previously installed it on the same computer as trial, removed (manually because uninstaller failed) and then installed IPP 9.0.3. But I need them side-by-side. Does it have anything to do with my previous installation? any left-over file I need to delete (I removed the whole /opt/intel).

It's Ubuntu 16.04, x64. unsupported I know but never had any problem with the evaluation or the new 9.0.3.

Before the activation of IPP we also received an email stating "There is a delay for the final configuration of your support account. Please wait approximately 1 hour and click here to complete the configuration.", but clicking on the link simply shows the same error message which asks me to try again 1 hour later. I have tried several times and it's been more than 48 hours, still the same message.

Also the link redirected to "https://registrationcenter.intel.com/accountincomplete.aspx?err=8005&app=0&pass=yes", what does error 8005 mean? Has anyone encountered that before? We had no problem activating IPP 7.0 for Windows by the serial key of IPP 8.x; now the product is different but since I can see the downloads and IPP listed it's supposed to work?

Hi Ji-Ping,

Sorry for replying late, and sorry to know that you got issues in registration. Any previous installation should not affect you current installation. Has your issue resolved now? If not, could you send me your "serial key" via private message so that we can take a look at what went wrong? Thanks!

Shaojuan

Not really though I forced the installation by installing RPMs. I just PM'ed you the serial number as shown on the download page. It's the same as our Parallel Studio serial key so maybe there has been a mistake?

Hi Ji-Ping,

Got your serial number, thanks. Working on it now, stay tuned. Parallel Studio serial number is a combined one for the whole suite. Thanks!
