When my X1 Yoga go to sleep they lose all connections with the new 20.70.10.2 driver, the old driver 20.70.9.1 is ok. Everything is working on that old driver.

EArna1, Thank you for posting in the Intel® Communities Support.

In reference to your question, there is no official statement providing by Intel® informing there will be a future driver release for the Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 8265 card.

In order for us to provide the most accurate assistance, we just wanted to confirm a few details about your system:

Is this a new computer?

Did you make any recent hardware/software changes?

The wireless card, did you purchased it separately or did it came installed in the computer?

When did the issue start?

Which Windows* version are you using?

Did you check with your Internet service provider to make sure the Internet is working properly?

Does the problem happen at home or work environment?

We recommend to install the Wireless driver provided by the manufacturer of the computer since that driver was customized by them work with your specific platform.

I can see that you are using Intel® Wireless driver version, 20.70.10.2, and according to Lenovo's web site, the proper Wireless driver version for your system should be version 21.20.0.0, we can try a clean installation of that driver:

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000022173/network-and-i-o/wireless-networking.html

This is the link to download driver version 21.20.0.0:

https://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/mobiles/nz4w803w.exe

If the problem persists after installing that driver, then we can follow the same procedure and then try to install the Intel® Generic Wireless driver version 21.10.1.1:

Hi,

Yes this was a new Lenovo X1 Yoga Gen3, in my org we only have Lenovo Yoga gen1, gen2 and gen3 machines. This was a new machine that was not joined to domain and was getting updates from Microsoft and Lenovo.

This problem was only happening on Gen3 machines because Lenovo and Microsoft has only allowed them to get the new update 21.20.0.0u. The gen2 machine has the same Wireless card and will have the same problem was the new driver is released.

There are 2 community threads on Lenovo form about this problem: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-X-Series-Laptops/X1-Yoga-Gen-3-Wireless-Problem-21-20-0-0u/m-p/4467806#M101563 and https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-X-Series-Laptops/X1C6-Wi-Fi-gateway-unavailable-after-resume-from-Modern-Sleep/m-p/4463985#M101356.

This issue started when Microsoft and Lenovo released the new driver and employees where having this problem both in the office and at home. This is a sleep problem (some time reboot) and the fix is change the wireless connection or turn it off and on. I tested Disable Power Management of WiFi Adapter and Set power saving mode to Maximum Performance. Both did not help and I needed to disable with gpo install of new Wireless drives: https://www.maketecheasier.com/block-driver-updates-specific-devices-windows10/. Then I uninstalled the new driver and installed a old one that has fix the problem on all my my machines, this was a manual process.

Machine: Lenovo X1 Yoga Gen3

Serial: R90R4AJ4

i7, 16Gb mem and 512 storage.

Type: 20LE-S3P200

Best regards,

Eyjolfur

EArna1, thank you very much for letting us know that information.

Just for testing purposes, by any chance, were you able to install and test the Intel® Generic Wireless driver version 21.10.1.1? Is the problem the same with that driver?

Also, you mentioned that the problem gets fixed when installing Wireless driver version 20.70.9.1, I checked on Lenovo's web site and I do not see that driver listed there, so we wanted to confirm where did you download that Wireless driver version, is there a link that you can provide for us to check further details about it?

Hi,

When I uninstall 20.70.10.1 (On Lenovo site called 21.20.0.0u) some computers have driver 20.70.9.1 installed and Windows picks it up and I don´t know why and don´t know where they get it. The computers that don´t have any driver installed after the uninstall of 20.70.10.1 (On Lenovo site called 21.20.0.0u). I install the older version from the Lenovo site version 20.50.2 manually.

Both of the older version don´t have any problems with sleep.

Hello EArna1

I am glad to hear that the driver is working on your system.

The difference on the version in the download center and the installed version you can find it on the Detailed Description in the download center link (https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/28876/Windows-10-Wi-Fi-Drivers-for-Intel-Wireless-Adapters), the driver version reported on Windows® is correct.

EArna1, Thank you very much for providing those updates.

Yes, based on the fact that the Intel® generic wireless driver is working properly and that the OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) has the option to do customizations on their wireless drivers, what we recommend, in this case, will be to get in contact directly with Lenovo to let them know and to report that the wireless driver version 20.70.10.2 is not working properly on the X1 Yoga Gen 3, this is in order for them to try to add a fix to it or to release a new driver for your platform:

I just wanted to add that my Lenovo X1 Carbon 6th Gen has the same issue after the ACdriver update Lenovo recommended. I'm going to try the Generic Wireless 21.10.1.1 driver with the hope that the auto wifi connect feature will be fixed.
