certificate the product when using a certified component

Hi

I'm developing a NUC based product, which includes the  Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 8265 (which is WIFI certified).

Under which conditions, would I be required to certify my product? (if any)

Thank you

Hello YonatanS,

Thank you for posting on the Intel® communities.

In order to better assist you, please provide the following:

1. Are using other Intel components in your device?

2. What kind of certification are you looking for? Can you give us more details?

Hi

I'm using the  Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 8265 (which is WIFI certified)

And I'm asking about a WIFI certification by the WIFI alliance - https://www.wi-fi.org/certification

Hello YonatanS,

I would like to let you know that if you are using a NUC with this wireless card (Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 8265), basically the NUCs certifications are good for it, however, if you are using additional devices in your developed design you might need to proceed with the certification for your device depending on the usage and the country legal requirements.

For more details, you can check the following links:

Thank you

my Device is based on a NUC with intel's M.2 Wifi card

The device includes additional components, none of them is related to the WIFI communication.

As far as you know - would I need to go through a certification test/audit?

Hello YonatanS,

In this case, the certification will depend on different factors like country, market, exportations, etc. If you are using a NUC from another brand with our wireless card, you may not need any certification. However, if this is a unit that you developed from scratch and you want to commercialize it you will need to certificate it.

If our certification did not help you, I will check further on this and post back as soon as I have any details.

Hi YonatanS,

I am not an expert in product regulatory but if you are integrating a WiFi card into a NUC and you need the final product to be WiFi certified <https://www.wi-fi.org/certification> you will have to work with the WiFi Alliance to get your product certified.

Reference URLs:

NUC certifications are available here: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000006130/intel-nuc.html

WiFI certifications are available here: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000007443/wireless/legacy-intel-wireless-products.html

As an additional comment, most NUCs have a WiFi adapter already integrated and you only need to add memory and storage, please keep that in mind when purchasing the systems.

Regards,

Ronny G
