Request for details on Intel HD 630 green lines in OpenGL apps

Dear Intel,

I'm a game developer and I'd like to have a few more details about the "Green Lines" issue that recently surfaced across the globe with one of your latest drivers release (one report of the issue is at https://community.intel.com/t5/Graphics/Intel-HD-630-green-lines-in-OpenGL-apps/m-p/1192516).

My user base has been complaining about the issue for the past few months, and I have been pointing them to your most recent beta drivers, but not all my users (> 500K) are tech-savvy and thus I'd like to know if there's anything I may do, programmatically in my game, to avoid the bug.

It seems the bug surfaces with specific pixel formats. In my OpenGL application I select a pixel format based on these requirements:

* Format: RGBA

* Depth buffer size: 16 bits

* Double-buffered

If, for example, I choose 0 for the depth buffer size, then the issue disappears - but I do need the depth buffer!

Any details on the root cause of the issue will be appreciated.

GabrieleGiuseppini, You are very welcome, I just received an update on this matter.

Just to let you know, the fix for this issue was provided already in our latest Production driver 27.20.100.8587:

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/29808/Intel-Graphics-Windows-10-DCH-Drivers?product=98909

For the users that are not tech-savvy, they can get their updates either with Intel® Driver and Support Assistant or eventually via Windows Update (automatically):

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/128824/Intel-Driver-Support-Assistant-Intel-DSA-

In reference to the question "there's anything I may do, programmatically in my game, to avoid the bug.", we can't comment on the issue fix from a software developer standpoint since it was root caused to the driver code and this is Intel® IP.

Hi Albert,

Thank you for your follow-up, it's appreciated.

It's a pity that I can't avoid this bug on the development side, but I'm glad to hear the new driver will be made available via Windows Update. Last time I checked, Windows Update was not suggesting the latest driver, and I had to install 27.20.100.8587 manually; may be I had to exercise some more patience 🙂

Thank you again Albert.
