Windows 8.1 Drivers for Intel HD Graphics 4000

Hello,

I just upgraded to Windows 8.1 today and I'm running into some issues. When I run GTA 4 (haven't tested any other games to be frank) - which ran fine before the update - it crashes after a while with a BSOD. The error message being:

DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (igdkmd64.sys)

This query in Google has led me to the information that the HD Graphics driver is crashing. The next thing I did was installhttps://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?lang=eng&DwnldID=23106 the latest HD Graphics drivers. This has not yet fixed the issue.

What I just noticed while writing this is that Hardware Info 64 does not recognize my Nvidia GPU. This could mean that GTA 4 is running on the HD Graphics GPU? So at this moment I'm reinstalling my Nvidia drivers.

So I reinstalled (clean install) the Nvidia drivers. I ran GTA4 which ran for a little while longer, but still throws a BSOD after a while.

In any case, this should ne be happening, right?

System:

Asus n56vz (notebook)

CPU: Intel Core i7-3615QE (including Intel HD Graphics 4000 (Ivy Bridge GT2))

GPU: GeFore GTX 650M

Chipset: Intel HM76 (Panther Point)

Memory: 8192 MB DDR3

Hi, I am an user of Windows 8.1 and I have the same issues about that BSOD with the same code of error: (igdkmd64.sys). This wrong only appears when I start playing World of Warcraft and always when I play with the Skype open, showing the window of teh memory.

Well, I have updated all the drivers of Windows Update and the GPU with the program NVIDIA experience, but the BSOD was there once again. Then i read this threat and I downloaded the Intel driver Win64_15338 but, at last appears a windows saying to me that the driver is not compatible with my Computer.

I have a Toshiba 64 bits Intel Core I7 with a very good GPU, i do not know whats wrong and I want:

1. Tell me what is happening around this.

2. What is wrong with my computer and that driver.

3. If it is another way to fix it.

Finally, I have to apologise about my English, I am from Spain.

A salute.

I have the same problem, and can't install drivers to work. I have Radeon HD7870 as a secundary gpu, and onchip Intel HD4000 graphics on Celeron G1610 on my primary monitor, on a ASRock B75M-R2.0 motherboard with the latest BIOS.

I have tried all of the above suggestions, but to no avail...

Hello. I updated my laptop to Windows 8.1 through the Microsoft Store about 2 days ago. I tried playing games on it today but it was giving me this same error. I have looked through this post and have tried downloading and updating the driver like mentioned in the earlier posts, however, my laptop would still crash when running the game. I am not very good with computer terminologies, so I don't really know what specs and such I need to include on this post. But I do understand that I should include a "dxdiag" on my post. Anyways, please give me some guidance on how to fix this issue. Thank you!

@Angel: Your DxDiag says your driver version is 10.18.10.3316, but you need 10.18.10.3335 which has the BSoD fix. Since you have Windows 8.1 x64 with a 3rd gen Intel processor, you will want to install this driver: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&ProdId=3720&DwnldID=23405&ProductFamily=Graphics&ProductLine=Laptop+graphics+drivers&ProductProduct=4th+Generation+Intel%C2%AE+Core%E2%84%A2+Processors+with+Intel%C2%AE+HD+Graphics+4600&DownloadType=Drivers&lang=eng Win64_15338.

@DiskoDasa: Your case is a little confusing to me. You seem to have the correct processor/OS combo to install the latest driver, but you claim it won't install (which seems to be the case as DxDiag shows you using the generic video driver). Have you already updated your BIOS as suggested? Also what is the error you receive when trying to install the driver linked in this thread?

@SantiMP: Please upload a copy of your DxDiag so that you can be helped further.

@SantiMP: Okay, so you are using Intel's driver version 10.18.10.3308 but need 10.18.10.3335 just like Angel. You are also on Windows 8.1 x64, so you can download the same driver I linked for her. Here is the link again for your convenience: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&ProdId=3720&DwnldID=23405&ProductFamily=Graphics&ProductLine=Laptop+graphics+drivers&ProductProduct=4th+Generation+Intel%C2%AE+Core%E2%84%A2+Processors+with+Intel%C2%AE+HD+Graphics+4600&DownloadType=Drivers&lang=eng Win64_15338.

@DiskoDasa: I believe an Intel employee will be able to help you better, as they are most likely to understand what the code 43 error entails. In the meantime, you can try the driver update utility that Angel linked to in her post. You also have yet to mention if you ensured that your BIOS are fully updated which could be necessary due to your lower-end Celeron processor. I also find it odd that your system model info was not filled in by your O.E.M. How did you originally get your laptop; with Windows 8.0 installed? Was everything working fine before you upgraded to 8.1? You may consider finding/creating a separate topic for your issue as it is not related to what the others are experiencing here.

@Everyone: For future reference, make sure you are using driver version 10.18.10.3335 or above while running Windows 8.1 with HD Graphics 4000. You can grab 10.18.10.3335 from the links below:

Windows 8.1 x86: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&ProdId=3720&DwnldID=23406&ProductFamily=Graphics&ProductLine=Laptop+graphics+drivers&ProductProduct=4th+Generation+Intel%C2%AE+Core%E2%84%A2+Processors+with+Intel%C2%AE+HD+Graphics+4600&DownloadType=Drivers&lang=eng Win32_15338

@Chris: Thanks for answer, but I have the same problem than before:

When I tried to install the driver Win64_15338.exe the system cancels the process saying that my System is not compatible with the driver.

I also can not install. He writes: Not validated for this computer. Contact the manufacturer for the appropriate driver for your computer.

I have Asus X550VB.

Edit:

I followed the readme and installed the driver. So far everything seems to be OK.

1. Click "Start", right-click "Computer", and click "Properties".

2. Click "Device Manager" on the left.

3. In the "User Account Control" window, click "Yes".

IF UPDATING DRIVER GO TO STEP 5

4. Double-click "Video Controller (VGA Compatible)" if present under

"Other Devices". (Go to step 6).

5. Expand "Display adapters" and double-click the graphics controller.

6. In the "Driver" tab, click "Update Driver".

7. Click "Browse my computer for driver software".

8. Click "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer".

9. Click "Have Disk..." and click "Browse".

10. Browse to the directory where you unzipped the file you

downloaded, click the "Graphics" folder, and select the

"igdlh.INF" file. Click "Open".

11. Click "OK" and click "Next". The operating system will install

the driver.

12. Click "Close" and click "Yes" to reboot. The driver should now

be loaded.

@Chris_W: Thank you for pointing that out. But after my initial post yesterday, I kept researching this issue further and I stumbled upon a link somewhere and it lead me to this page: http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect?iid=dc_iduu Intel® Driver Update Utility

It scanned my computer and pretty much told me which of my drivers have an updated version that I can install. Once I installed it's suggestion, I now have version 10.18.10.3345 and I am happy to say that so far, after hours of continuously running the game that was previously causing the error, my laptop hasn't crashed. I am attaching an updated dxdiag with this post. I hope that what worked for me might help others who are experiencing the same thing.

Here is the newly-created DxDiag file. I am getting this message in the Device Manager ==> Intel HD Graphics properties: "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)".

When i install the newest device driver, it doesn't show any error, but, when I restart the PC, in Device Manager ==> Intel HD Graphics properties it shows me again Code 43...

I have tried several versions of graphic drivers but it is the same situation over and over again... I have even removed all GPU's drivers and reinstalled them but I couldn't find the way to make it work properly.

I have installed Windows 8.1 two weeks ago, and it is the same situation ever since.

This is my new DxDiag.txt with "Win64_15338.exe"

Please help!!!

Like many here I'm also have BSOD crashes in Win8.1 under the 10.18.10.3308 driver. I've gone through the Intel update page and it detected my HD4000 adapter and prompted me to download the Win64_15338.exe file like it did with SantiMP. Also like SantiMP running the install told me it was incorrect for my system.

I also have a Toshiba Ultrabook. So, any enlightenment on this particular issue would be great. Thanks!

SOLVED!!!

I was experiencing this same issue,

then I realized, my VGA monitor attached to my laptop was not installing the driver for my HD graphics...

Is anything plugged into your HDMI port? (obviously you have one ) try plugging into a television then attempt installing the driver again...

(error not less or equal means something is missing, or not turning on. - once I really understood what that meant, this just had to be the answer.)

Thanks for the suggestion, PP, but that didn't solve the compatibility issue for me. I may need to call Toshiba and see if they have any suggestions. But, ug, I hate dealing with the low level grunts that insist on walking through every dang script they have in front of them without knowing what any of it means.

Thanks for the try though.

Hey, I have had a lot of problems with bsod saying igdkmd64.sys when I play games after I installed Win 8.1 to my PC. Here is my dxdiag, partly in finnish but maybe you can get enough information from it. Could somebody tell me what I have to do, please?

Hello,

I too am having issues related to BSOD during a game. I have never had a BSOD while I was not in a game, and it appears that the issue is stemming from the Intel Graphics Driver 4000. The issues only started appearing after updating to Windows 8.1. I received a couple of low memory warnings asking me shut down a game in addition to the blue screens. These errors occur eventually no matter what when I play a game, though I do not receive low memory errors just before blue screens (I have closed the program when the warning occurs).

I have attempted to update my driver from version 10.18.10.3308 but it says that the new driver is not compatible with my ASUS G46VW.

I hope this issue can be resolved. Here is my DxDiag file.

Now I have updated the latest driver (10.18.10.3308) but I'm still having blue screen. My PC always warns me about low memory when I play games and after that BSOD just appears. I have many gigabytes of memory left on my pc though. I hope someone could find solution to this problem ASAP. I have linked my dxdiag earlier (with older driver though). This problem is getting so annoying..

Download the lastest driver https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&ProdId=3720&DwnldID=23405&ProductFamily=Graphics&ProductLine=Laptop+graphics+drivers&ProductProduct=4th+Generation+Intel%C2%AE+Core%E2%84%A2+Processors+with+Intel%C2%AE+HD+Graphics+4600&DownloadType=Drivers&lang=eng (version 15.33.8.64.3345) here. It should say you have driver version 10.18.10.3345 in device manager once you install it (not 10.18.10.3308). I had the same problem with low memory/ BSOD, but once I installed this driver it was fixed.

Hey im having the same issue as well. I get the BSOD whenever I try to play League of Legends. I try to update my drivers with the ones provided but it says that 1.) my drivers are currently up-to-date and 2.) the driver being installed isnt validated with the computer.

I'm really not sure what to do please help.

I added my DxDiag.txt below.
